In Loving Memory

of

Mark Allen Gregory, Jr.

January 22, 2005

to

August 13, 2005

Interment, Hebron Cemetery

Shepherdsville, Kentucky

Our smallest Fire Fighter has been called home to be with Our Father God.

His smile and laughter still rings in our ears, but God needed another Angel,

So, little Allen -

It is now your Blessed job to watch down upon us as

you run through the fields of Daisies, steeped in the Brilliant Sunshine,

As Jesus walks with you for Eternity.

You will always hold a special place in our Fire Fighting Family.

Lebanon Junction Fire and Rescue

Lebanon Junction , Kentucky

Just Kimberly

Mark Allen Gregory, 6 months old, was apparently the victim of SIDS.

Our Fire Fighters were on the scene in less than two minutes, but despite our best efforts,

he went Home. The family has many needs, and the

Lebanon Junction Fire and Rescue Squad is taking donations for whatever may come their way.

If my Canteen FReeper Family is interested, please FReep mail me,

and I can send you info on how to help.

Prayers are always appreciated, and we ask for those - ABOVE ALL ELSE.

This story may possibly be in our local paper this week. The website is http://www.pioneernews.net/ .

We are not sure if a special fund will be allocated as yet, but the local church benevolence fund,

and our Fire Fighting Family has raised close to $300.00 so far. The Funeral services were donated

by Kappel Funeral Home. Lebanon Junction, Kentucky - yet Hospital costs and interment has yet to be revealed to us.

Thank you for your prayers and support. JK

This was originally posted at The Canteen, but I wanted to spread the word to my entire FReeper family.

The young couple who lost their child is still very much in shock. Our Fire and Rescue squad is working hard to do all we can, as we are still healing from this horrible run.

Please send all the prayers and encouragement you can.

Thank you. JK

Heavenly Father, we return to thank You that You are the God of All Comfort ... if it were not so, we could not bear the loss of this beloved little one. Gather Allen's family unto Yourself, Merciful Father, that they might endure the days ahead. Touch the first responders and their brethren with mercy and compassion, for great were their efforts. To You, O Lord, belong the mysteries of the fullness of our days ... increase our faith even in this dark hour. In the Name of Jesus, we pray, Amen ...

What a wonderful family. This is so well written. It reminds me of the letter telling Stonewall Jackson of his daughters birth. Life is precious. God, through Moses, said "Choose Life", it is more precious than we think.

Agreeing with you in prayer, Pegita.

O Lord, have mercy upon this family and hold them close in their grief. Though we do not understand, yet we will trust in You. In the Name of Jesus. Amen.

A Child Loaned

"I'll lend you for a little time
A child of Mine." He said.
"For you to love the while he lives
And mourn for when he's dead.
It may be six or seven years
Or twenty-two or three
But will you, till I call him back
Take care of him for Me?
He'll bring his charms to gladden you
And should his stay be brief,
You'll have his lovely memories
As solace for your grief.

I cannot promise he will stay
Since all from Earth return,
But there are lessons taught down there
I want the child to learn.
I've looked this wide world over
In my search for teacher's true,
And from the throngs that crowd life's lanes,
I have selected you;
Now will you give him all your love,
Nor think the labour vain
Nor hate Me when I come to call
And take him back again?

I fancied that I heard them say,
"Dear Lord, They will be done,
For all the joy Thy child shall bring,
For the risk of grief we'll run.
We'll shelter him with tenderness,
We'll love him while we may,
And for the happiness we've known,
Forever grateful stay.
But should the angels call for him
Much sooner than we planned,
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes
And try to understand."

A young couple in my parish just lost their son, exactly 7 months to the day he was born. He was their first and only child.

The excrutiating pain of losing a child is one that no parent should ever endure. Despite their enormous grief, they wrote their son, one of the most beautiful and moving letters I have ever heard, read to the hundreds who showed up for his funeral. This young couple taught us all a lesson in faith.

Please remember this littlest "firefighter" and his family, in your prayers.
