America's Veterans Have Set A Brave Example For All And Deserve Our Thanks. America's veterans defended our country when America needed them most. They triumphed over brutal enemies, liberated continents, and defended our freedom and our lives. America's veterans have earned the thanks and support of a grateful Nation. We also remember those who did not return as well as those whose fate is unknown. We honor those families who have lost a loved one in the defense of freedom, and we will never stop searching until every missing member of the Armed Forces is accounted for.
President Bush Is Committed To Giving Veterans The Benefits They Have Earned. Since the President took office, the Administration has increased spending for veterans by 24 billion dollars - a total of 53 percent. In the President's first four years in office, spending for veterans increased twice as much as it did in the eight years of the previous administration.
Health Care For Veterans Is A Top Priority. The President recognizes the importance of health care to veterans and has made it a priority to improve the current system. Since taking office, President Bush has increased the VA medical-care budget by 51 percent, and these resources are being used to make real improvements for veterans. Over the past four years, total outpatient visits have increased by 11 million, and the number of prescriptions filled has increased by 18 million. Since January 2002, the backlog of disability claims has decreased by 20 percent.
VA Facilities Are Being Modernized And Expanded. More than 1.5 billion dollars has been spent modernizing and expanding VA facilities so that more veterans can get care closer to home.
President Bush Was The First President In Over 100 Years To Sign Concurrent Receipt Legislation. This law ensures today's veterans are eligible for the military retired pay and VA disability compensation. President Bush has also expanded grants to help homeless veterans find the shelter they deserve in the country whose freedom they fought for.
President Bush Has Outlined A Comprehensive Strategy To Win The War On Terror

Protecting The Homeland. President Bush has reformed our intelligence services to stay a step ahead of terrorists, while establishing new financial and diplomatic tools to cut off their financial support. Funding for homeland security programs has more than tripled since 2001, and more than $14 billion has been provided to support police officers, firefighters, and other first responders. The USA Patriot Act has enhanced information sharing between law enforcement and intelligence personnel, updated the law to adapt to changes in technology, and allowed the critical tools that have been used for years in cases against organized crime and drug dealers to be used in the fight against terrorists.
Fighting The Terrorists Abroad Before They Can Attack Us Here At Home. September 11th taught us that retreating within our borders will not keep us safe. That is why American men and women in uniform are taking the fight to the terrorists in Afghanistan, Iraq, the Horn of Africa, and elsewhere. Iraq is a central front in the War on Terror as terrorists there try to block the advance of freedom. As Iraqis forge a new constitution, Iraqi soldiers are increasing their capabilities to fight our common enemy. As the Iraqis stand up, Americans will stand down.
Advancing Freedom To Ensure American Security. In the long run, victory in the War on Terror requires changing the conditions that give rise to violence and extremism. New democratic governments in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Lebanon have encouraged democratic reformers in places like Egypt and Saudi Arabia. We have lost 1,864 members of our Armed Forces in Operation Iraqi Freedom and 223 in Operation Enduring Freedom. As I discussed with another FReeper on another thread, Axis Sally was convicted of treason for a WWII broadcast of a fictional radio drama. She was an American born Nazi broadcaster from Germany. She passed herself off as a Red Cross nurse when she interviewed injured prisoners of war (and misused those soldier's responses). She was not convicted of treason for being a Nazi.

Michael Moore's 2nd unit crew (he didn't go to Iraq) interviewed soldiers under false pretense. Some that appeared in his film say just this in FahrenHYPE 911.

Propagandist can be an act of treason.

The North Vietnamese certainly credited John Kerry with helping them to win the Vietnam war.

We aren't at war because we already won the war. Our troops are peacekeepers and they're being murdered.

If we had packed up all our stuff and cleared out the day after we captured Hussein, Iraq would have reverted to an Islamic hellhole just like Afghanistan did, posing a substantial threat in the same way, and guaranteeing that our troops would be back in that country re-taking it in just a few years or less. It is far better to do the job right the first time so we don't have to go through all of this again.

The transition of peacekeeping responsibilities to the Iraqis is ongoing. It is a slow process, but it is being done. Any attempt to abort the process before it is finished will, indeed, weaken the United States for a couple of reasons:
1) A chaotic Iraq will be overrun by Taliban-like Muslim fanatics
2)The United States will look frightened and weak for pulling out before the job is done, thereby encouraging Muslim fanatics to fight on, and believe that Allah is on their side. I cannot stress this aspect enough.

All of those people who are weak-kneed and whiny about how US troops are being killed need to shut the hell up and let those with courage finish the job. That includes people with relatives serving in Iraq right now (for some reason, it seems to be the prevailing philosophy that one suddenly has greater insight into the nature of the Iraq war just because one knows someone else who joined up to fight). Those in uniform right now were willing to put themselves at risk to get a job done and they don't need whiny naysayers pulling the rug out from under them.

Ponder all you want - but it is obvious - you do not cave into terrorists on any ground.

Just what could possibly be the result of us pulling out of Iraq? Could it be the terrorists would take over and have an entire country to further their terrorist agenda?

Would it make the terrorists love us and never choose to kill us again? Afterall, we were not in Iraq or even fighting the terrorists over the years as they mounted attack after attack on the U.S. without penalty. And, did you notice that each attack was worst than the prior one?

And, would it show that the U.S. did not care, afterall, about the people of Iraq and the children in prisons, people being tortured, living under horrible dictatorships?

What about our image then? Huh?

The only hope for the turmoil in the Middle East is the creeping democracy that the oppressed come to see. They then see hope, and that there are other types of governments.

But, the weak anti-war factions always choose to side with our enemies to fight FOR the continued rule of dictators, continued torture, continued abuse of a nation of people. They would give America away to like minded people. People that are willing slaves to the oppressers.

And, the Americans that follow such non-fighters are our enemies within and will sell America and us down the river at the very first chance as they always have.

If those people had been running things in early America, there would be no America today and I will never respect those that are not willing to defend my freedom but instead will not fight but give away our freedom.

Shame on them - they are worthless members of society and will be the downfall of us.
