ONly news report I have heard on Slidell was one that said City Officials had said that there was "complete Devestation". NO confirmations of that however.

Any news on tornado damage near Atlanta?

Carroll County officials are reporting that there are two distinct areas of damage; they are saying that two separate tornadoes touched down.

No word on injuries yet.

Forsyth County just lit up with a tornado warning on the cell that went through Rockdale and Gwinnett.

I fear the worst for Bay St. Louis and Pass Christian. There has been absolutely no reports of any type from that area. Not citizen or officials.

Thought I heard about the GA tornados--so, I pulled up the Atlanta radar, and it was crystal clear. That's why I omitted the radar from the list. I wonder if it was having a hiccup when I checked it. Weird.

Quickly in passing TWC mentioned "40,000" homes flooded in a parish east of NOLA. Not sure how accurate that is.

Wow. Everyone was comparing this to Camille before (and since it seems). May be more like Camille than we thought with hitting roughly the same area.

It just blossomed within the last hour to hour and a half.

I think post storm analysis will show the storm to be very much on par with Andrew. Measured across, it will have produced a wider swath of damage than Andrew... Just a massive storm.

The storm surge reports did end up sounding eerily reminiscent to some of the things we saw in last years tsunami.

The fact that numerous towns/regions have not checked in should be extremely telling.

I imagine that most have read the comments of water to the second floor of the Beau Revage Casino in Biloxi. But, having been there a few times I can tell you that the first floor is about 20 feet above street level and if it got to the second floor, all the casinos, apartments and business establishments on the Biloxi coast are severly damaged and the smaller building must be wiped out, if the report is true.

Look at the green storm line in link. I don't believe the eastern halves of those coastal states will get any of the bad stuff, maybe rain. But the western halves of those states will likley get tornado spin offs like what already is being reported in Atlanta, etc. I keep looking at this Intellicast map and the map on my office wall.
