I hope your right, but from what I seen from the Governess, I betcha she issues no-shoot rules of engagement.
And I see the Dems aren't discussing the situation with the pumping system. Gee, wonder why?
I would think it is reasonable to assume that when a major city is supposed to be completely evacuated, some military contingent needs to be mobilized at the same time to prevent looting.
Recovery is being hampered because of people who don't care a wit about others, never have, never will.
Their greed and evil is causing the death of others in attics and on top of roofs.
If they survive they ought to be charged as accessory to murder to anyone still stranded that dies as a result.
Chris lawrence talking about conditions. People dying, dead bodies, an old woman in a wheelchair is dead up against the wall, filthy conditions, feces, no medicine etc.
Where is the plan, where is the help, etc.
This is inside the convention center I believe. No one in charge. No officials.
And of course, after 9/11, it took the left three or four months to get back to hitting their anti-Bush stride!
Yep. Hindsight is 20-20. But obviously if you need to evacuate and entire city. While the people are leaving the Military needs to be arriving.

Thank you for your prayers - your support in this way has been most effective. While the Lord has been faithful in protecting us from harm and danger, there has been a tremendous amount of "physical" loss within our Division - we are very, very thankful thus far, to know that lives within the Ranks of the Army have been spared.
As you have probably seen by pictures on the news, New Orleans has become a city under water. Our officers, Majors Ray and Faye Brittle, decided to stay in New Orleans to "ride the storm." Today they reside on the second floor of their building since the first level has been overtaken by water. They've distributed every ounce of food they had in their possession and are in despair and very discouraged as they have nothing more to offer. When we heard from Major Ray Brittle yesterday, he said, "there's absolutely nothing anyone can do for them at this time..." "...Unless we had a helicopter or a boat or two to bring in supplies, there's nothing that can be done." I have been praying for them all through the night and ask that you make a request of the folks around you to do the same.
In regard to Mississippi, there's tremendous damage. I can share with you, at this point, that the officers from Pascagoula and Biloxi areas fled their towns to safety with family members and will have absolutely nothing to return to. The Corps facilities and quarters have been completely wiped away. Majors Don and Helene Wildish were stationed in Biloxi and Sergeants Brett and Kim Cundiff were stationed in Pascagoula (this couple just recently "signed up" and were installed as Sergeants in July!)
We haven't heard reports from Alabama, due to phone restrictions in their areas and ours, so we're a bit anxious about what type of damage that's occurred there. As phone lines become stronger, clearer and free, we should be hearing more results of destruction today from other communities. We've dispatched canteens and kitchens, etc. to just about everywhere within the Southern regions of the division with the exception of New Orleans.
Please keep us in your prayers as we continue to ask the Lord for direction and wisdom in extending the best help possible to those who have been effected by the destructive hurricane/storms of Katrina.
This is absolute chaos and is quickly becoming inexcusable IMO.
Indeed I do understand. If you search the hurricane threads over the weekend before the hurricane hit, many were predicting lawlessness among whoever survived the predicted flooding. And we didn't have any great insight, it is predictable in a disaster of this scale. Estimate are that 400-500,000 chose to ride out this storm in the New Orleans area.
CNN reporting that FEMA has suspended evacuations due to concers of safety.
No kidding. This is pattycake compared to what will happen if there is a major attack on Philadelphia or Detroit.
Don't think the terrorists aren't watching this either. Now they know that if they can shut down a city's health, transportation, and water systems, they can let the gangbangers take care of the rest and the city will crumble.
True. But the issue is scope. Isolated looting is one thing, and that's probably what they were expecting. This sounds like (though it may not really be) something a lot bigger than "normal" looting.
At any rate, I think a bunch of disaster plans are going to be changed to account for the magnitude of looting in NO and other affected areas.

Someone had a list they were making of Freepers willing to open their homes up to those who have none. I, myself, signed up. However, I heard today that these offers are being made but that they want them all to stay as close to their area as possible. It was something about them having access to temporary funding. Still, it looks to me like any place could have a FEMA office to deal with this.
I agree. We need to open our homes to these people. Man, there would have to be some cautious screening though. If someone showed up at my door with a plastic bag full of unwrapped DVDs and CDs and a still boxed iPod ...well, I'd wonder.
Yes. Didn't the judge running it say on O'Reilly last night -- explaining how they moved so fast -- that they were basically using longstanding plans developed in case a catastrophic hurricane hit Galveston again?
Report on CNN about the Convention Center was pretty bleak.
