Kill anyone running around with weapons.

So much for the Second Amendment and the poor homeowner trying to protect his family or business. What other freedoms are you eagar to surrender?

Yeah. Strange to think that there is more shooting and crime going on in NO now than in Baghdad. Does every city have this kind of deadwood? Not all? Many, though.

Well, I don't think ANYONE has seen anything like this before, but the Guard at least has manpower, equipment, supplies, organization and structure to respond as needed.

Lock and Load. I would have brought my PSG-1 but had to sell it to pay some bills. My H&K USP will work just fine lets get up close and personal.

Yes- it is true the social welfare system is largely to blame for what we are seeing- and then there are the Democrats to blame.... I know for sure as in 100%.

I used to be one.

They will say the "white man" is keeping them down- but who is it that is preventing their own elderly and children from being rescued and getting treatment at local hospitals- I guarantee it is not the "white man".

I like to remind everyone that it is the same segment of our society who never produce anything anyway-they never have and never will. There are people of all skins types out there risking their lives to save others.

NO was poorly managed from the beginning

John Timoney, Miami Chief of Police and a veteran of the NYC Blackout of 1977, said the same on last night's John Batchelor show.

"I think they've probably convinced themselves they are acting as revolutionaries and trying to change the system they have been programmed to hate"

they probably couldn't form that thought. They are just using it as an excuse to vent and shoot at things/people. Probably wacked out on all tt Oxycontin the stole yesterday.

NEWS FLASH: New Orleans is a dangerous place, always has been. Even when it was "normal" walking off on the wrong street was taking your life in your hands. When I worked at Charity (the big free) 30 years ago it was not uncommon to have tourists come in mugged after walking a few block away from Bourbon street in the wrong direction. Call it what you want for whatever reason you want but there is a subculture of violence there which has now been given free reign. I pity the few poor souls there who really are victims. If the compassion of those who have developed the voting farm there really was genuine they would have already issued shoot on sight orders for the predators. The pictures are doing more than could ever been said in the MSM to educate the country regarding the urban criminality they have so long pandered to. Sorry for the rant but I can't stand what I am seeing in my old city.

I don't know if you've visited NO--part of the charm is a certain seediness. That, and being able to get a big bowl of rice and beans as fast food...

When I heard that a judge in Houston had done all the arranging to bring in the refugees from the Super Bowl to the Astrodome...I shuddered. Houston doesn't know what is about to hit them, though I admire their gumption. NO has a dysfunctional underclass like no place else in the US...except maybe Newark...

Well, I'm gald for him that he's agreeing with me!

If they had made it clear that evacuation was mandatory and that any -ANY looters would be shot on sight, things would have been much, much better. less crime, violence, rapes, and a more efficient rescue and relief operation.

And in all likleyhood, they probably wouldn't have had to shoot anybody - or if they did, maybe a few people to get the message out.

Now some people here may (and have) called me a nazi for suggesting this, but many more lives would have been saved with that approach than with the secondary disaster that is going on now.

So the question is, are the NG troops "real" enough soldiers to handle the situation?

Good question. Perhaps it would take hardened returning (from Iraq) NG troops, from whom much has already been asked. But I'm sure 100s would still be willing to volunteer.

There has been no authoritative person in the state of Louisiana who has stepped up and "taken charge". There's been no Mayor Rudy, no Gov. Keating, they all seem to be too busy with their own personal problems. I could not believe Mary Landrieu felt the citizens of NO would be interested in whether she "got her own family to safety".

I agree. The entire situation has been mismanaged, on a local level, from the git go. Does this mean that since federal help is "there to support local officials" that their efforts will also be mismanaged? I certainly hope not.

If the Mayor/Governor felt it would be "bad publicity" to declare "martial law", perhaps they'll reconsider when the Army has to go in to reclaim the city. What idiots! I hope the people of NO consider carefully next time they vote----if they ever again get to vote in a local election.

The charges of "Ethnic Cleansing" have already started from the Other Side. Show me ANY politician that has the bravery to declare Martial Law and start shooting voters.

The water will evaporate, the houses will burn or be eaten by termites, the bodies will rot away or be cremated, even the smell will fade, but the mayor or governor who orders a shoot to kill will be infamous forever.
