New Orleans hospital halts patient evacuations after coming under sniper fire...
****Anyone see the movie "Mad Max" recently? This sure seems like a smaller version....possibly to grow to a larger version.****
This also reminds me of the Stephen King novel The Stand.
Is this really true? I mean the initial reports of helicopters under sniper fire were not supported by the National Guard... Sounds like mass hyteria is starting...
Me, me, me, me, I'll go.
Some reporters have said that criminal gangs were planning to go in and loot New Orleans immediately after the hurricane.
Americans need to know if indeed criminal gangs are the ones responsible for the chaos.
Martial law has not been declared. All troops are subject to civilian authority (federal and local).
I'm not sure how to indicate sarcasm on here (obviously), but my intent was to mimick a brainless lib argument about how misspent our military is.
My father called me sonny... Once.
? Allah uuaaaakkkkk barf fight against the Great Satan's infedels?
So the question is, are the NG troops "real" enough soldiers to handle the situation? I have great respect for those NG troops who have served in the Sand Box, but fear for those who have never seen anything like this before. We used to call them the K-Mart Army once upon a time. The name didn't fit all of them, but it did fit many...
Hey, luv - wave at the ocean for me if you would. I just left SD last week and apparently got my flight out just in time.
shooting at hospital workers and NG in helicopters trying to help people out of hospital is beyond words to describe.
Bring in the snipers, bring in the military. Kill anyone running around with weapons.
This is america. Not some 3rd world banana republic.
You heard, didn't you, that they released all the inmates from the NO jail earlier in the week? They're probably cracked-up or speeding by now, like `skinnies' on chat. If armed, they probably can't hit the side of a building and they have no RPGs, at least that we know of.
I saw the Louisiana governor on TV just before the storm hit. She didn't look like she could run a two-car funeral.
This situation can only get worse. Someone has to make the decision to assault these people shooting rescuers, and make them dead. Now.
Never underestimate the lure of a flat screen tv to someone who is brainwashed into mindless consuming by twelve hours of television viewing daily.
And I apologize for the awkward sentence.
Right on....! Only thing is these people think the Government owes them everything!
Like virtually every other social ill, much of the blame for this can be laid at the feet of the libs.
Earlier this week a non European American went out of his way in his car to cross the center line and spit at me as I road my bicycle home from the store carrying some pop. I admit that I'm damaged goods after that.
Yeah. Strange to think that there is more shooting and crime going on in NO now than in Baghdad. Does every city have this kind of deadwood? Not all? Many, though.
Well, I don't think ANYONE has seen anything like this before, but the Guard at least has manpower, equipment, supplies, organization and structure to respond as needed.
"I'm ready to lock and load and take a ride... anybody else wanna come?"
Lock and Load. I would have brought my PSG-1 but had to sell it to pay some bills. My H&K USP will work just fine lets get up close and personal.
That must be your name then....Sonny!
Actualy I wasn't referring to you, I was just saying it.
But if you want me to call you sonny I can...
Unless you want to suspend the constitution they CAN'T!
I used to be one.
They will say the "white man" is keeping them down- but who is it that is preventing their own elderly and children from being rescued and getting treatment at local hospitals- I guarantee it is not the "white man".
I like to remind everyone that it is the same segment of our society who never produce anything anyway-they never have and never will. There are people of all skins types out there risking their lives to save others.
"I think they've probably convinced themselves they are acting as revolutionaries and trying to change the system they have been programmed to hate"
they probably couldn't form that thought. They are just using it as an excuse to vent and shoot at things/people. Probably wacked out on all tt Oxycontin the stole yesterday.
Oh the jails were emptied? That may explain a lot.
Oops, got my wires crossed, maybe I heard wishfull thinking.
NEWS FLASH: New Orleans is a dangerous place, always has been. Even when it was "normal" walking off on the wrong street was taking your life in your hands. When I worked at Charity (the big free) 30 years ago it was not uncommon to have tourists come in mugged after walking a few block away from Bourbon street in the wrong direction. Call it what you want for whatever reason you want but there is a subculture of violence there which has now been given free reign. I pity the few poor souls there who really are victims. If the compassion of those who have developed the voting farm there really was genuine they would have already issued shoot on sight orders for the predators. The pictures are doing more than could ever been said in the MSM to educate the country regarding the urban criminality they have so long pandered to. Sorry for the rant but I can't stand what I am seeing in my old city.
When I heard that a judge in Houston had done all the arranging to bring in the refugees from the Super Bowl to the Astrodome...I shuddered. Houston doesn't know what is about to hit them, though I admire their gumption. NO has a dysfunctional underclass like no place else in the US...except maybe Newark...
It was a line from a movie. Can't remember which one.
Just a goof.
Please investigate comments like this before posting. The entire National Guard IS NOT in Iraq........That would be stupid!!!
Well, I'm gald for him that he's agreeing with me!
If they had made it clear that evacuation was mandatory and that any -ANY looters would be shot on sight, things would have been much, much better. less crime, violence, rapes, and a more efficient rescue and relief operation.
And in all likleyhood, they probably wouldn't have had to shoot anybody - or if they did, maybe a few people to get the message out.
Now some people here may (and have) called me a nazi for suggesting this, but many more lives would have been saved with that approach than with the secondary disaster that is going on now.
Good question. Perhaps it would take hardened returning (from Iraq) NG troops, from whom much has already been asked. But I'm sure 100s would still be willing to volunteer.
The water will evaporate, the houses will burn or be eaten by termites, the bodies will rot away or be cremated, even the smell will fade, but the mayor or governor who orders a shoot to kill will be infamous forever.
OMG! CNN reporter getting shot at? Outside the SD?
The kooks really come out of the woodword in situations like this. How's that tinfoil hat fitting?
I think you may be right on that one.
I wasn't sure, some WW2 vets I know would take offense to that!
I almost responded Fargin Icehole, but I was even more worried!
"WHYWHYWHY?? Even if they're looters, what could possibly cause anyone to see an advantage in shooting at folks trying to evacuate from a hospital!"
I would say one cause is the absence of law but civilized people don't behave this way under any circumstances. This is different. This tragedy has revealed that a substantial fraction of the population in N.O. were essentially feral. They have no sense of morality, compassion or decency. It shows alot about the current state of inner city dwellers and how quickly things turn into a Mad Max film when the veil of civilization is stripped away. Perhaps N.O. should be re-named "Bartertown".
Yeah, they got something special alright. It probably won't have the same charm when they move the act to another venue.
George Wallace thought the U.S. military couldn't intervene in Alabama either. He found out otherwise.
The joke's on Jerry - his entire audience is now berift of the use of their televisions.
