New Orleans hospital halts patient evacuations after coming under sniper fire...
How the hell did Jerry Springer replace Beck? Where do you live...in Vacaville?
I keep getting these things on my cell phone all day. i'm going to have to cancel that service. This kind of breaking news I can do without. This is the most disgusting spectacle I have ever witnessed.
I just saw the camera zoom in on a Cobra gunship flying above New Orleans!
Anyone see the movie "Mad Max" recently? This sure seems like a smaller version....possibly to grow to a larger version.
I also agree with orders to shoot to kill on these idiots. Good ridance to bad rubbish.
No, he should say we will NOT attempt to apprehend anyone looting or disrupting rescue operations -- we will shoot to kill with absolutely no tolerance.
As I said yesterday, they NEVER should have let looters get hold of rifles and pistols like this. The governor and the major are total morons.
Any idiot knows that mob action and looting grow worse if they are not firmly handled, as soon as possible.
But the very least they should have done was to lock up the weapons in all those abandoned stores. There were riots last time in the stadium. They expected looting and violence again, since they searched everyone going into the dome for weapons. Why didn't they lock up the weapons?
I am sorry, I am so guilty.
It's my fault, as a European-American, that non European Americans are acting this way.
I would send in the marines they have the amphibious apcs that would be useful in No.
"What will be the excuse now?"
The same as the excuse used by liberals when their policies fail: They had good intentions.
There are people who have been assaulted now who wouldn't have been assaulted.
There are women who have been raped who wouldn't have been raped.
There are people murdered that would be alive today.
And there are people still stranded who would have been rescued if the sitation had been handled better.
It's obvious to all but the handwringers: You get more of the bahaviors you reinforce. By failing to stop looting when it started, you reinforced it. Their reward was profiting from lawlessness.
I also made that remark. Those without morals will take over...at least until the good people unite against them.
I'm seriously thinking about buying a gun and learning to use it now because of this.
You are the first person to clear that up for me and if you're right, it's criminal that Congress didn't come back immediately when the civil unrest started getting untenable which was at least yesterday morning, if not Tuesday night.
I believe the National Guard is in Iraq
This is what happens when there is a breakdown in law and order. These people no doubt view this as an opportunity to do whatever they want.
Probably most of them are convicted felons, as well.
'hospital halts patient evacuations after coming under sniper fire' would have been better. There is going to be extra homework in the FR Journalism class this time.
Mogadishu on the Mississippi.
Where is the National Guard and the Marines?
I'm ready to lock and load and take a ride... anybody else wanna come?
Pure madness...What is wrong with those people?
LOL.. standard answers: unemployment, poverty, lack of afforable healthcare, global warming, etc,ect...
I don't have any cash to give, but I do have a 30.06 that I'm pretty good with at about 200-300 yards out. ;)
I'm halfway expecting IED attacks on rescue convoys...
Great. And now they are coming here to add to those in Houston.
I am been having similar thoughts.
By the way, this strikes me as the kind of thing that no one with a licensed weapon would be likely to do.
It is also the kind of thing that no professional criminal with an unlicensed weapon would be likely to do. Criminals have better things to do than to shoot people randomly.
It's almost certainly the work of drunken looters high on alcohol and drugs, who have stolen weapons from stores and are all excited about their new toys.
"These people are lazy, uneducated, drug addicted scumbags who are used to everyone making excuses for why they are nothing but primal preditors-under taxpayers care."
I guess you could have summed it up in one word "democrats".
Just a little transition from self-indulgent hollywood/mtv dreamtime to reality.
NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana (CNN) -- New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin issued "a desperate SOS" for the thousands of people stranded in an around the city's convention center with no food or water and fading hope.
CNN's Chris Lawrence described "many, many" bodies, inside and outside the facility on New Orleans' Riverwalk.
The alert comes as violence and lawlessness disrupted efforts to get help to people around the city.
Charity Hospital has halted patient evacuations because it has come under sniper fire, according to Dr. Tyler Curiel, who witnessed the incident.
As an ex-Social worker I will explain it to you: These people are lazy, uneducated, drug addicted scumbags who are used to everyone making excuses for why they are nothing but primal preditors-under taxpayers care.
America is codependent when it comes to the inner city thugs, and now we reap the whirlwind.""
Thank you for your comment. I and many others could NOT have said it any better. This is the 3-4 generation product of giving them welfare and teaching them nothing.
President Johnson better be rolling in his grave. I for one am very tired of paying to produce predators in my midst.
It should not have to take a reconvening of congress to gain control over a city. The reality is that these people have lived with this way of living for so long they don't even recognize how awful it is. This kind of stuff happened in their neighborhoods everyday, now it is happening in broad day light for the world to see. Whose fault? Not mine.
"I can't imagine the prospect of a firefight between looters and the NG in an American city.
"F'in nightmare scenario."
Be not afraid. We, the people, will join the NG and lend a helping hand.
Lock and Load!
That's right, the entire National Guard is in Iraq right this very moment.
We must find out the root causes.
Agreed, we as Freepers need to embrace these people and discover the cause of their anger.......while they are destroying civilization.
There is no way to keep weapons out of the hands of humans except if they see that they will be better off just being law-abiding citizens.
This is unreal, truly unreal. I think looting was expected, but not open warfare. This wasn't checked in the beginning but must be vanquished now ASAP. We cannot let a city be taken over by Mad Max types.
I agree. Most of america is above this type of behavior and wether we like the job or not, we set an example for the rest of the world. I can't believe how quickly these savages starting acting this way.
Time to bring in Marine snipers and unleash them on the savages.
The time for feely good political correct coddling of these animals is past. They obviously care nothing for their country or its laws. Remove them from the gene pool.
Forgive me if it's not the time and place but such a comment came through my mind: This is the next subject for a movie- chaos in Orlean
These are criminals who are committing crimes because they can. They also know that so long as they prolong chaos they can enjoy their power trip. Some are probably hoping for months in a Mad Max world.
No need to debate it now. We will see what happens over the next few months. Perhaps, we will even be visited by a few more Katrinas. :-(
Maybe these looters don't know that the city is gone for months. ? So the dumbsh!ts are loading houses with tv's etc. Thinking they hit the big time.
These looters may be tougher than Iraqi/Saudi/Syrian/Jordanian suicide bombers. Some of them no doubt have the best military training in the world courtesy Uncle Sam.
I am very disheartened that this could happen in America. When this is all settled, Louisiana needs to issue an apology to the rest of the US for shaming the nation with these antics.
A little of that from real soldiers and they would melt away. These are criminals not fighters.
I would be careful how much of this emergent reporting I believe.
The MSM is going to try to paint this as a huge failure for Bush and has already done this, you can hear the line in the rhetoric of the reporting.
People feeling abandoned, next thing will be interviews where people say how they were forced to loot or die.
In other words don't believe everything you hear sonny...
