Democrats will win every election there again. With 99% of the black vote as usual.

Not in New Orleans...

Ooops I forget, dead people always vote Democrat.

There isn't going to be a New Orleans in the next election.

I think the whole disaster is just some sort of cosmic retribution for the way Landrieu stole the election

No, blame Allah.

Or put it down to another city like Sodom and Gomorrah that got wiped off the map by a "natural" disaster.

Ever seen one of those Mardi Gras festivals? One could say a corrupt and licivious generation of vipers were given their walking papers.

There's a Democrat Mayor, a Democrat City Council, a Democrat Chief of Police, a Democrat Attorney General, a Democrat Governor, a Democrat Lt. Governor, 24 of 39 Louisiana State Senators are Democrat, 67 of 105 Louisiana State House Representatives are Democrat, there's a Democrat Representative in the House from New Orleans, and one of two Senators in the Senate is a Democrat. Yet, somehow it's all Bush's fault.

EXCELLENT post!

You don't think Bush will survive?

Why? You think he'll have a heart attack?

You think he'll lose the next election for President?

What nonsense is that?

And if they had used the school buses, the people on them would have moaned and griped about them lacking toilet facilities.

Well, not all. I'm sure there were some decent people who didn't leave town, but I'm also sure their reason had less to do with transportation and more to being reluctant to leaving their few precious possessions to the mercy of the criminals in their neighborhoods.

And some were not physically or mentally in shape to organize themselves for such a trip.

Good post...I find it astounding how Karl Rove fails to get in front of the DNC lies on nearly every issue. The Dems should be burning at the stake for the current gas situation.

"When The Levee Breaks" By Led Zeppelin

If it keeps on rainin', levee's goin' to break, [X2]
When The Levee Breaks I'll have no place to stay.

Mean old levee taught me to weep and moan, [X2]
Got what it takes to make a mountain man leave his home,
Oh, well, oh, well, oh, well.

Don't it make you feel bad
When you're tryin' to find your way home,
You don't know which way to go?
If you're goin' down South
They go no work to do,
If you don't know about Chicago.

Cryin' won't help you, prayin' won't do you no good,
Now, cryin' won't help you, prayin' won't do you no good,
When the levee breaks, mama, you got to move.

All last night sat on the levee and moaned, [X2]
Thinkin' about me baby and my happy home.
Going, going to Chicago... Going to Chicago... Sorry but I can't take you...
Going down... going down now... going down....

Ironically it was a New Orleans flood in 1927, that brought the Democrats to power in Louisiana, and paved the way for the rise of Huey Long.

You miss my point. These buses are just sitting on a lot, rusting merrily away, when they could have been used to evacuate the people BEFORE the storm. Now the idiot mayor is calling on the feds to national Greyhound to bus the people out! If we are going to play the blame game - THAT picture is an incrdible inditement of the mayor.

I was listening to WWL radio (New Orleans) last night and heard Mayor Nagin ranting against the president. He kept repeating that Bush was allowing politics to get in the way for doing anything. He was angry that he (Nagin) had not been given dictatorial powers over New Orleans. He then said, "Well, I do give him credit for one thing, the kick-ass general he sent down here. He got off the plane, starting cursing at everyone, and people started jumping to follow his orders.

Nagin was also complaining that school buses were being used to bus people out of NO. He said, "I would expect every Greyhound bus in the country to come down here," as if the federal government could force a private business to do that.

Nagin is frustrated, and that's understandable, but from where I'm sitting, I see the federal government working very hard to control the situation. They can't just twitch their noses and make everything better again, and people were warned to get out of there. I know many didn't leave because they're desparately poor, but many more did have the resources but chose to stay.

The people who deserve the lion's share of the blame, it seems to me, are the thugs who are distracting the authorities from rescue missions in order to fight the rampant crime.

You are so right. They pass out $5, bags of beans or a pint of alcohol and give the voters a piece of paper with the candidates number on them that they should vote for. The number is in case they can't read. They can match a number.
