Great story, incredible 13 year old boy, thanks for posting. Too bad many of the adults down in NOLA don't have the courage, unselfishness and concern for others as this 13 year old.

I'm sure there are hundreds, if not thousands, of personal stories of selflessness and heroism.
It's just that the bad news gets so much attention.

"If I were the Gov of one of the surrounding states that's what I'd do. I'd send every school bus in my state to get those people to safety. " Sometimes the sensible thing to do just sounds, well, too darn sensible to for politicians to actually do.

I know your right, shame on me, the media always focus on the bad, guess I was just taking a pot shot at those in NOLA that are creating havoc.

NO school buses are under water. Baton Rouge buses are taking people to the Astrodome.
The logistics of moving that many people is staggering. 50 at a time will be able to go elsewhere. It takes several hours - one way - to take 50 people to Houston. 30,000 people divided by 50 --- that is a lot of buses, and a lot of trips, and a lot of gas - which is hard to find.

''That little boy is a hero,''Not accurate to call him a "little boy", he became a man this past weekend.

Special blessings on this young hero.
He made the world a better place with the love he showed for his family.

The problem lies with the marauders.
The lack of security cost lives. Time to rethink the liberal attitude of excusing every bad behaviour with psycho babble and root cause bull.

Spoiled brats for sure. But it is funny how the real world never seems to invade the minds of certain young people.

Nobody has pointed out the obvious fact that this 13 year old boy had to take charge because there was no father around to take care of the family.

I don't know if that is true. But he certainly did a man's job.

If I were the Gov of one of the surrounding states that's what I'd do. I'd send every school bus But that's only because you're intelligent and rational. The governor of Louisiana and the mayor of New Orleans are about as rational as PMSing teenagers.
