I do that, too. I think it's the way I was raised that gave me that mindset. I'm no spring chicken and I'm STILL fighting it. You're right that it can make you over sensitive. I hope these people take up the offers and make a better life for themselves but this they will carry.
Ditto.
Did you get caught in Katrina? Haven't seen you around.
No, he doesn't. He brought his wife (ex-wife) here from Mississippi. He has a daughter and a beautiful grandson, Alex, too. And his whole family was just here visiting from Mississippi. His older brother is a career Army officer - Lt. Corporal, I think.
"Fair enough. I understand your point of view. I didn't wish to start an argument."
Utah is not more racist than anywhere else. I am saying that their is some racism in every place you go, and I don't really think there is any place that is that different than any other place.
I agree 100% that conservatives are not racist.
I used to get a laugh out of the general mentality of Utah folks who think they know everything about race when they have never lived outside of their sheltered, basically all white environment.
;o)
Thanks, Onyx.
What a great story. "Guess Who's Coming To Dinner" remake.
I'm bilingual, I speak Ebonics and standard English.......
Don't forget dizzying elevation of the state.
Hey, no matter what color, race, sec, ethnicity we are, we all bleed red when we're cut, huh?
Doesn't matter, the next problem that arises the race card will be played again and again,It will not stop.
They may kick white ass right and left in the hoods you are in.I'm not calling you a liar.
I've walked alone through Desire Project in NO,East Athens,Ga,The Fillmore and East Oakland and many other places.Had a rock thrown my way and some words hurled a few times.
Most blacks I know from the same areas have knife wounds and assorted battle scars.
Again,my contention is that its way more dangerous to your health to be black in the ghetto than white.Thats MY experience.Respect my truth and I will respect yours.
Folks, it has been a great thread (sorry for all the typos). It's Friday so I am out of here for now. Thanks
LOL. Reminds me of my own story. I married a white guy, moved to the other side of the country, and got pregnant quickly, all w/o telling my parents.
That first phone call was a doozy.
Hey, no matter what color, race, sec, ethnicity we are, we all bleed red when we're cut, huh?
So true... and more importantly, G-d doesn't look at color, He looks at our hearts. If we could do the same, things would be much better.
"Again,my contention is that its way more dangerous to your health to be black in the ghetto than white.Thats MY experience.Respect my truth and I will respect yours."
I am not disrespecting your truth, but I disagree with you, so I guess we will have to just agree to disagree. Peace!
Oh,for sure. Those two sets of hills make a huge difference in temps.
Bullship! With this kind of paranoia you won't make it in Utah or anywhere else in the world.
Good on you. This is excellent advice for EVERYONE. (conversate = converse)
Its all good then.If we all had the same experiences and interpretations of said experiences it would be a dull world.
