They mention this in the book too- just a few paragraphs. I haven't seen anyone expound upon this point to any great degree. It's worthy of an entire book by itself.
The idea that government raises money by taxing itself defies logic. If that works, I say let's just tax government 500% on their spending and let everyone else off tax free! That's my revenue neutral tax plan.
World peace! LOL, is that an answer to a beauty pagent question? A 30% tax on all goods and services is going to bring freedom worldwide! Excuse my while I laugh at you.
Yes, but he did type a lot of words.
I guess you missed the article in Money Magazine. Not exactly a private conversation.
I agree on both counts although if you have followed these arguments here on FR you will know that I have always said that FREEDOM alone is worth implementing the income tax.
I participate in these discussions here only because they serve to educate other folks NOT because I have any delusions about changing the minds of those who love the communist inspired income tax system because THEY happen to do well with it. We SHOULD put more focus on the FREEDOM issue however.
That is a perfectly reasonable position, but I like the proposed system worse and I don't like the fact that the system is being peddled with lies. Sell the system on its real merits, not some fairytale.
I have always said that FREEDOM alone is worth implementing the income tax Fairtax.
Sheech! It's too early in the morning for this!
I know that was a typo, but you are correct. The sales tax is just a gross income tax instead of a net income tax. Your consumption spending is my gross income. It is not the huge change you think it is.
I didn't say that, you liar.
I said that the economic ramifications of having a non-Marxist method of revenue collection would be helpful to the cause of freedom, as other nations would be forced to compete or die.
Yes, we agree on that point, all the way. My support of this bill is more philosophical than economic. Notice that the SQLs never have a defense for that side of things.
They are defacto control freaks- perhaps in some cases, outright commies.
Quoting a leftist publication (CNN) is hardly convincing. Get a real source.
You're dwelling on the amount when the method is the point. METHOD. Who has the control in taxing income? Who has the control when taxing consumption?
The differences are worlds apart.
Who is the federal government and who is the federal government.
The differences are worlds apart.
Yes, there is a huge difference between the federal government and the federal government.
Money Magazine is a real source. Are you claiming that Money Magazine just prints flat out lies? You get real. You guys are unbelievable.
I am sure Marx would be pleased with your new twist on taxing gross income and providing a monthly distribution check. To each according to his needs you know.
The federal government doesn't tell me when and where and how to spend my money. Wake up!
And CNN publishes Money. It's a joke. Get real. Next thing you know, you'll be quoting Keynes as if he wasn't a leftist.
Everyone here knows exactly where YOU are coming from my friend. It is, and apparently will alway remain all about YOU!
Others (I) don't see it that way so you and I are just going to have to agree to disagree!
I don't know that I would go THAT far but, for the most part, they are shallow thinkers who cannot see the forest for the trees IMHO! Either that are it's all about ME types!
I am honored to be a freeper. I got chills this morning when I opened back up to this thread. I have been researching the Fair Tax for about 5 weeks and there is more information here that I have to print out and digest than in all the 5 weeks combined. Not to mention, I have several other sources to check.
We are all conservative Republicans having honest and intelligent debate with each other about something everyone is very passionate about. And the context remains strictly in the best intersest of our country as we see it.
I challenge anyone to go find a bunch of liberals having this kind of debate among themselves.
I must actually get some work done or I won't have to worry about paying taxes. I intend to print out the whole thread and crunch my own numbers this weekend.
