I will be in DC this weekend attending the Support Our Troops Rally. I have a digital camera and a lap top. If someone can please tell me how to get a pic from my lap top to this site I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you for your help.

Simple. Open a FREE account at www.photobucket.com
Upload your photo's there, then use HTML to link to photobucket.com.

You don't post them to this site.
You have to have a host server somewhere.
You copy the pic to that site, then post the address here.
There are lots of hosting sites for doing that.

Thanks. Will that post the actual pic or a link to the pic. Is it similiar to tiny pic.com? I really want to post the actual pic.
To: blogblogginaway
Two of the upload sites I use are imageshack and uploadyourimages.com.

As long as we're helping out on this subject....
If photobucket is free to use, how do they make $$$...???
Some upload sites are pay to play.
Why would one pay when free is available?
Thanks.

Thank you all for your help. I registered at photobucket and did a test pic in the sandbox and it WORKED! Now I had better figure out how to shrink it down some! LOL

Once you hit that post button it's permanent.
I've done worse. When my grand daughter used my computer to post at F.R. she would frequently not sign off when she left the computer. I'd come along thinking I was still signed in and make a reply to someone with grand daughter's decidedly female screen name. I even mentioned my wife once while posting from grand daughter's account.
Now that's confusion!

You upload the file (I know there is an upload file size limit; but cann't tell you what it is), and from there you do this
< img src="insert the full address of your web picture here" >
The quote marks MUST be around the full address of your website, whether it's a news story, or your pictures. Now, just don't use ANY spaces in the above instruction, and that should get you where you want to go.

"If photobucket is free to use, how do they make $$$...??? "I'll go out on a limb here and say that they somehow get some advertizing dollars. If enough people use their site to post family pictures, family members will visit the site and see some ads.
Does it work? Do they make any significant money? I would think they wouldn't be in business if there weren't some money in it. People don't pay for bandwidth out of goodwill.

To: spinestein
You need a space between img and src
At the very end, a >
Then it'll work!
To: Solamente
Like this?

Hey, it works.
Thanks.

Thanks for the offer Graybeard. I think I have it figured out now but filed your name just in case! If a woman is spotted this weekend in DC with some cool equipment with barely a clue how to use it, chances are it's me! Don't be too shy to approach 'this woman' and offer your assistance. LOL.
Looking forward to meeting some of you. This is the first event of this sort I will be attending since joining FR and I am grateful to have found it.
May God Bless and protect our troops.

re photobucket:
I just payed $9 for three months of 1 gig storage including FTP (much faster to upload lots of pictures).
DOWNSIDE: you cannot password protect one album and not others; it's an all or nothing situation. Wish I'd noticed that before signing up...
also, if you shoot hi-res large size pics, reduce your set of uploadable pics to 640 x 480 before uploading, otherwise it's a manual resize pic by pic after uploading. Not a problem with anyone viewing your pics in slideshow mode, but if you want to post individual pic(s), if they are hi-res they will display much too large.YMMV.
