Hurricane Rita Live Thread, Part VI
NHC - NOAA ^ | 23 September 2005 | NHC - NOAA

Posted on 09/23/2005 9:39:06 AM PDT by NautiNurse

Dangerous Hurricane Rita is expected to make landfall in the northeast Gulf of Mexico within 24 hours. Tornados have spawned in Louisiana. Water is filling the Ninth Ward of New Orleans again. A bus carrying elderly evacuees was gutted by fire this morning outside Dallas, with multiple fatalities. Television crews have positioned their hurricane reporters throughout the region to attain maximum drama effects. Whoooooa.

Rita is going almost due north and is falling apart structurally - looks totally dsyfunctional - but will still wreak havoc on N.O. - I think Texas is totally spared, unless the later flooding gets 'em.

You got that right!
I watched Primetime Live Last night and Diane Sawywer interviewed Barbara Streisand, she flat out blamed the Bush Administration for Global Warming and his refusal in signing the Kyoto Agreement, Diane asked her how she knew the weather conditions were Global Warming? she says because she has knowledge of the Snow Caps melting on the Alps, WOW! what a amazing find Barbara

I think people should be less worried about people talking on cell phones driving and more worried about me texting behind the wheel. I'm a stickler for punctuation.

"David Gregory"

Just looking at his smug, insolent face makes me want to rearrange it.

I don't think he's got a mean bone in his body.

Someone suggested Honore as press sec'y.
He could do it, and do it well.

The pressies will now b!tch and moan because Houston and Galveston did not get leveled. Mark my words, "overreaction" will be the buzzword. I will take bets on the day and hour. I am saying Sunday afternoon, in time to make the Monday newscycle.

Saturday 9/24/2005, 5:30 pm CDT, in time for the Sunday newspapers and the weekend talking heads shows.

Listening to interview with CEO of bus system Metro and he was giving information about all of the things they'd been doing. Picking up 9,000 people who don't have auto's and getting them settled in shelters. Handing out water last night on the freeways.

Taking the ambassador of Kuwait and 60 of his relatives to the airport

You can't see it in the pictures posted here, but It really looked more obvious from some video they ran about an hour ago.

They really need to use concretee to build these levee's.

I keep having people tell me about how the federal government failed to strengthen these levee's. (It is all Bush's fault...blah blah!)My response is that it is the reponsiblity of NO and LA to build there own levees if they want to live there. IMHO.

Rita's closing her eye because she thinks if she can't see you, then you can't see her.

How in the world can all the forecasters be so wrong? Supposedly a catastrophic storm! Millions evacuated! If this thing fizzles, who in their right mind would ever listen to the "hurricane" experts again? I guess better safe than sorry, but what a mess.
