Zimbabwe cancels 4,000 farm deeds
Gulf Times ^ | 24 September, 2005

The Zimbabwean government has ordered the cancellation of title deeds for over 4,000 white-owned farms and vowed to take over all remaining white farms, a newspaper said on Friday. Patrick Chinamasa told reporters in the capital Harare that the cancellation of the deeds follows last month’s constitutional amendments barring white farmers from appealing to the courts against the government’s seizure of their land, the Herald newspaper said. “Government has directed the Registrar of Deeds to immediately nullify all title deeds to the 4,000 farms which have been nationalised,” the Herald said. Most of the farmers who had lost their land had challenged the takeovers in court. But last month lawmakers from President Robert Mugabe’s ruling Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front (ZANU-PF) party used their parliamentary majority to force through changes to the constitution which make all agricultural land state property. Agricultural production in Zimbabwe, once known as the breadbasket of southern Africa, has plunged dramatically in the years following the seizure of commercial farms for redistribution to new black farmers. – DPA

Has Mugabe reached Castro status with the Lefties yet?

This should push him over the top if he hasn't.

Sounds like eminent domain, doesn't it?

...follows last month’s constitutional amendments barring white farmers from appealing to the courts against the government’s seizure of their land...

I wonder if the Zimbabwe chapter of the NAACP considers this racism.

This is a man-made disaster. It is not caused by global warming but by global socialism/communism. When the starving starts Mugabe and company will find another way to make the whites pay... The U.S. tax payers will be called on to save these "victims". Failing to rise to the bait will be cast by the race-hustlers (Jackson, Sharpton, et al) as another sign of racism in America.

Then the drought will be God's fault? (The Godless have no problem blaming Him.)

More starvation ahead. This guy doesn't get it.

The white farmers are the ones that provided food to the Zimbabweians.

Guess they found a few people who weren't starving yet, and decided to fix the problem once and for all.

Close...
It's Bush's Fault.

Looking back on it now, these whites should have hired mercenaries to come in and protect their property..and assasins to take out Magabe.

There can be no economic development when there are no secure property rights.

Is anyone (black or white) going to invest a $1 million in a plant or $1,000 in market shop if the government can just take it away whenever it wants to.

Little things, like these basic rules, are absolutely neccessary for any economy.

Africa is going nowhere until they figure these things out for themselves.

I believe he gets it. He's stolen billions as well, and those $$$ are in a safe place outside of his country. I don't understand why someone hasn't tried to take him out yet? This guy is not only destroying the economic engine (i.e. white folks) that allows his country to survive, but now he will go into full throttle for the destruction of his own (i.e. black folks). Unbelievable. So where are all the people who yell "never again" regarding genocide? Or racism for that matter? Oh I forgot, only European based peoples are racist. Never mind.

If black people were granted their deepest desire; and every white man vanished from the face of the earth; I wonder how long it would take before the world became a global ghetto?

Some say 10 years, I think this is giving blacks too much credit. I think the answer would be less than a month.

Before Mugabe took over, the farms 'White owned' produced more food than South Africa could consume; they exported grain. Now the white farmers have either been killed, or chased off. The farms are sitting idle, the tractors looted, the irrigation system looted, and the farm houses have been burned.

Well, you have to admire determination; if the first time you do something insanely injust, criminal and plainly stupid and you suffer for it; it requires a lot of determinaton to do this again.

Not one taxpayer penny should go to the soon to be starving in Zimbabwe.

Private donations are a different matter.
