From Staff Reports
NORMAN -- An explosion near the University of Oklahoma's Gaylord Family-Memorial Stadium killed one person Saturday, OU officials said.

The explosion happened at the courtyard near the George Lynn Cross Hall, Botany-Microbiology Building on OU's campus, which is west of the stadium, according to Sgt. Gary Robinson of the University police department.

The explosion happened during the second quarter of Oklahoma's game against Kansas State.

After the explosion, police set up a perimeter of several blocks and made fans exit the stadium to the east.

You know, you're right -- "suppress" is more like it.

I just can't believe we're being manipulated like this. Someone upthread used the word "insulted" -- that's exactly what it is, it's insulting to be kept in the dark this way.

Well, I suppose if most people never hear about this story, then it didn't happen. But that means the 1% or less of the population have to figure it out for ourselves.

"Hinrichs Tried To Buy Ammonium Nitrate"

POSTED: 5:16 pm CDT October 4, 2005
UPDATED: 6:10 pm CDT October 4, 2005

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "NORMAN, Okla. -- The general manager of a Norman feed store said Tuesday that Joel Henry Hinrichs III had inquired about purchasing a significant amount of ammonium nitrate, the primary ingredient used in the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing.

Dustin Ellison, the general manager of Ellison Feed & Seed on Porter Avenue, said that a man matching Hinrichs' description had come into the store days before he blew himself up on OU's campus. Ellison said the man asked about ammonium nitrate, but couldn't offer a reason why he needed it."

Joel Henry Hinrichs III, 21, died Saturday when a device attached to his body exploded about 8 p.m. while he sat on a bench, officials said.

The blast could be heard inside the stadium less than 100 yards away where more than 80,000 people attended OU's game against Kansas State.

They'll post them there, but it might not be until late tonight or early tomorrow before the link is put in. I prefer News 9 because they're locally owned, but at least Channel 5 has actually posted their fertilizer story already.

I know one thing, there is no way on earth I'll ever get into a stadium or convention center with 30,000 people to be quarantined...

The fact that there is an obvious MEDIA BLACKOUT indicates that there IS a Homeland Security aspect to this event.

News media is held back by lack of "on the record" information from law enforcement. No media conspiracy here.

Lack of information has never stopped them before.

That is part of it, but there's more to this. "The LEO's didn't tell me" excuse is just being offered to provide plausible deny-ability.

From the CDC's Website, Avian Flu generally occurs only in birds, and does not spread easily to humans. The President was talking about quarantines of poultry farms, not quarantines of people or cities:

Background: Avian Influenza

Influenza viruses that infect birds are called “avian influenza viruses.” These are type A influenza viruses that are genetically distinguishable from influenza viruses that usually infect people. There are many subtypes of avian influenza A viruses, including H7 and H5. Avian influenza viruses can be distinguished as “low pathogenic” and “high pathogenic” forms based on genetic features of the virus and the severity of the illness they cause in poultry. Birds that are infected with avian influenza viruses can shed virus in saliva, nasal secretions, and feces. Contact with feces or respiratory secretions is important in the transmission of infection among poultry. Between flocks, infection usually spreads due to movement of infected birds and the actions of humans in moving feedstuff, personnel, equipment, and vehicles into and from premises that are contaminated with infected feces or respiratory secretions. The duration that these viruses can survive in the environment depends on temperature and humidity conditions, but they may survive up to weeks in cooler and moister conditions.

Avian influenza viruses do not usually infect humans; however, several instances of human infections and outbreaks of avian influenza have been reported since 1997. In 2003, influenza A (H7N7) infections occurred among persons who handled affected poultry and their families in the Netherlands during an outbreak of avian flu among poultry. More than 80 cases of H7N7 illness were reported (the symptoms were mostly confined to eye infections, with some respiratory symptoms), and one patient died (a veterinarian who had visited an H7N7 flu-affected farm). Although there was evidence of limited person-to-person spread of infection, sustained human-to-human transmission did not occur in this or other outbreaks of avian influenza. It is believed that most cases of avian influenza infection in humans have resulted from contact with infected poultry or contaminated surfaces. However, other means of transmission are also possible, such as the virus becoming aerosolized and landing on exposed surfaces of the mouth, nose, or eyes, or being inhaled into the lungs.

I'm more concerned about high school games. Security is basicly to keep kids from fighting, not searching bags, and I can imagine how bad a bomb under a bleecher full of kids would be.

Well, if anything were to happen at another game, it will be spun until they can't keep spinning it anymore, just as is happening with this "suicide".

"Lack of information has never stopped them before."

Say what? Except for the forged Bush ANG documents (and other possible forgeries), the media does not manufacture it's own information but has to obtain it from some kind of credible source.

I picked up on that immediately. I think he is telegraphing something to us.

In some ways, it reminds me of all the 'chatter' going on in the summer of 2001. I remember all the 'creditable but non specific' etc things coming out of the govt. back then. Basically then sort of message they have now, but not 'color coded'.

I have read many articles about bio weapons experimentation suspect china 'flu' breakouts, al queda and so on.

Hmmmm..Texas/OU game this weekend --could that be why there has been next to no coverage of the OU bomber story in the Dallas media market?

So, it's just breaking it to us gently I guess. Martial law.

I agree with bluebell, I'm not going anywhere.
