ARTICLE SNIPPET: "A University of Oklahoma student accused of transporting an explosive device into Will Rogers World Airport in Oklahoma City last week is still enrolled and could begin classes at the Norman campus next Monday.

OU public affairs vice president Catherine Bishop confirmed Tuesday aviation senior Charles Alfred Dreyling Jr. is still a student. Dreyling is one semester away from completing an aviation management degree, according to his lawyer Kent Eldridge.

Bishop would not comment on whether the university was instituting its own disciplinary proceedings against Dreyling, as outlined in the OU student code handbook.

U.S. Department of Homeland Security documents obtained by The Transcript detail on Aug. 11, federal agents searched Dreyling's Norman residence. In the residence, the memo states, agents found "gunpowder, carbon dioxide cartridges and wires" as well as a computer with a video of detonation of a device similar to the one transported into the airport Aug. 10."

"Ex-Oklahoma U. Student Could Be Responsible for Attacks"

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "(U-WIRE) NORMAN, Okla. — Federal authorities investigating last week’s terrorist attacks are looking into a former University of Oklahoma student detained by immigration officials in Norman, Okla., Sept. 11.

Hussein Al-Attas has been transferred to a facility in New York, and the FBI is investigating his connection to another man detained in Minnesota.

The Immigration and Naturalization Service detained Al-Attas the day of the attacks, but he may have had a previous run-in with the INS on a trip to Minnesota this summer, said Mitchell Gray, a Norman attorney who practices immigration law.

The FBI is investigating Al-Attas because he may have driven Zacarias Moussaoui to Minnesota this summer. The INS detained Moussaoui Aug. 17 after his flight instructor became suspicious of his requests for training on jet simulators.

French intelligence officials tell the FBI that Moussaoui is a high-ranking operative in Osama bin Laden’s terrorist organization, according to published reports.

Moussaoui trained at Airman Flight School from February to May 29 and left without warning and without getting his pilot’s license, said Dale Davis, the school’s director of operations.

Al-Attas never contacted Airman, Gray said.

A person close to Al-Attas called Gray on Sunday to ask for help, saying Al-Attas had driven a man to Minnesota, the attorney said.

Al-Attas let Moussaoui live with him at one point, according to a member of the Islamic Society of Norman. Al-Attas often prays at the mosque and teaches classes on good character at an Islamic school, the member said.

Al-Attas was held in the Garvin County Jail in Pauls Valley, Okla., where the INS has a jail contract, until early this week when he was moved to Oklahoma City for transfer to New York.

A court record lists Al-Attas as a co-defendant with Muzahr Abduliqaadir in an action brought by Oklahoma Investment Group, the owners of Summer Pointe apartments.

A Summer Pointe maintenance man, who wished to be identified only as Jerry, said the tenants broke their lease and left without warning on Sept. 10."

Hi Howlin, Glad to see you! (o: I'm in the progress of working up a detailed and referenced summary of what we know so far, but I'll try sum most of it up in a few quick sentences if I can... (those who know me will laugh heartily at that statement (o;)

First, the MSM is following the AP and Official Story as well as keeping the lid on things for the most part - Several local media outlets are not buying the official line and have done their own in-depth reporting. Channel 9 and Channel 4 in particular are doing a better job than ANY of the other channels/papers. Agencies investigating are reported as: Homeland Security, Joint Terrorism Task Force, FBI, Norman and OU PD, ATFE (BATF). FBI has officially taken the lead in this investigation although they are not releasing details at this time.

1.) Someone set off a bomb sometime between 7:20 and 8pm outside the OU/Kansas State game on Oct. 1, 2005. There are discrepancies on the exact time and we are working on getting a definitive time right now.

2.) One person reportedly killed. He has tenatively* been identified as Joel Henry Hinrichs III of Colorado Springs, a student at OU. Although his father and the MSM media (AP) and one local channel (ch.5) maintain he was not associated with muslims he was living with a Pakistani roommate (more on him later...). Boren (OU Pres.), FBI and others are trying to play this off as an "isolated incident" and a suicide by a "mentally unstable" young man. Connecting the dots in this story does NOT lead to that conclusion by any sense.

It is reported that Mr. Hinrichs had a ticket to the game and attempted to enter the stadium (containing approx. 84000 people) with a backpack through at least 2 gates before running away when asked to allow a search of his bag. He then went and sat at a bench by the bus loading area. Some reports state he was taking stuff out of his backpack and trying to put it on his person or fiddling with it somehow and it went off. Seeing as there was a large amount of explosives found in his apartment (see below) it might be assumed that this was an "accident" of some sort and he probably didn't mean to be killed...

(* After reports of his identity and comments from his family were obtained by various media outlets in CO and OK they are now saying that there must be DNA testing and it could take a while.)

3.) Five other reported injured and then the 5 injured "disappeared" from the reporting. (5 "accomplices" re-surfaced in reporting tonight - reporter says may have been involved with the bombing or taking stuff out of suspected "suicide's" apartment.)

4.) Police responding with bomb squad found and detonated a second package containing what is now said to have contained materials or "parts" of a bomb. This was originally reported as a second device by authorities.

5.) FBI cleared out apartment building and such and hauled away explosives deemed very volatile and exploded them on the local PDs test range before notifying others. People report hearing that explosion some 4-5 miles from the range. Also found in the apartment was Islamic papers and such.

6.) The device used and presumably stuff detonated the next day were TATP - "mother of satan" is the name the Islamic Jihadists call it. Very volatile substance.

7.) Roommate of Joel Hinrichs is named Fazal M. Cheema and is reportedly MIA at this time. There were reports he was brought back in for questioning and then released back to his apartment but this has been reported as not accurate. Reports state that an airline ticket belonging to this person for a date in the future was for a trip to Algeria.

8.) There are reports of Joel being seen at a local mosque on numerous occassions (Ch.9 or 4 reported this - can't remember which off-hand - doing this summary from memory).

9.) Hinrichs attempted to buy Ammonium Nitrate several days before the blast at the local feed store. One report said an undercover police officer was reportedly there and got a license plate number, and one report I saw said the owner of the store called the FBI.

Suffice to say that most of us who have been following this story agree that it stinks to high heaven as far as the "official line" goes. This is especially true considering the history of Norman, OK, OKC, OU, and the presence of Hamas and Al Qaeda groups which are known to law enforcement. (Massoui(SP?), Nick Berg, et al...)

Early reports that couldn't be relied upon (verboten site to FR) are now being confirmed and reported in bits and pieces by local media as well.

Probably the most remarkable thing about all of this is the lack of coverge in the MSM nationwide. Fox originally broke the story and then pulled it. A google search of news showed only 300 or so articles the other day vs. over 6,000 for Bali and over 1600 for the NY boating accident which took place on the 2nd.

There is probably more I'm forgetting at this point - it's late and I've got to bed after this post (In-laws dropping by tomorrow)... I apologize if I've left anything crucial out.

To get caught up on Eyewitness reports you may wish to scan through for posts from PhiKapMom - she was there and has a lot of relevant information. Rte66 has done some excellent background searching, as well as a couple of other FReepers whose contributions have been tremendous and whose name I can't recall offhand - SORRY!

You may also wish to freepmail indcons and ask to be put on the "Norman Bombing" ping list the two of them have going. Cindy also has a nice collection of updated links in this thread and FReeper Backhoe earlier today posted a compilation thread. (Search their "in forum" link from their profile pages is probably the best way to find the threads.)

Forgot probably the most important part of the link to Middle Easterners...

PhiKapMom reported overhearing the girlfriend of her son's frat brother being questioned by police shortly after the game (which she attended). The boy's face was red on one side from the explosion and the girl (a Persian Iranian) reported seeing 2 Middle Eastern men running from the area immediately after the explosion.
