I didn't know that about him, yes, he's a sharp guy, I always like to hear him.
Gosh, I hope everyone is more vigilant at this weekend's games, wherever they are--but especially in Norman, because I keep thinking of how much like the bombings in London this all is. I'm guessing there were four guys to the team--but note that's a guess and not reporting--and also noting that they used the same kind of explosives. Pray they don't make a repeat performance as they did in London!
Caller to show saying that too much money will be lost with the football games if this gets out.
Rick Roberts: Went to OU himself, says in post-911 world, people need to know this, and need to demand answers.
RR: If you have evidence that the sky is falling, you might want to let people know so they can get out of the way.
Caller from OKC: was at the game, large explosion, sounded like artillery shell, in 2nd q, rocked the stadium, nobody did anything.
RR: how many stories have you heard about this? Caller, not many on a national level, but a flurry locally.
Caller saying Boren's office is spearheading the investigation, and in his interests to keep it quiet.
RR: the silent majority can no longer afford the luxury of remaining silent. We have to demand answers.
I have a question about today's news conference. I missed most of it but caught a small part when the President was talking about the bird flu and the military type quarantines.
Does anyone wonder why he brought that up today? I thought this was about Miers nomination. Are they expecting this flu to begin transferring from human to human this year!!??
This scares me more than terrorism. I can hide from terrorism for the most part, but this type of contagious flu will go everywhere. We are too PC to stop people from coming into our country from areas infected.
Do we need to stock up on even more supplies, say like about 6 months worth?
Interestingly, the subhost on the Savage show just mentioned that someone named Bruce Newsome of the Rand (?) Institute, I think, who is a terrorism expert, said that the bombings in London are a template for what's coming here.
Oops I thought I was on the TM thread. Reply over there please. Sorry.
I look here:

I am more than ready for Stormin Norman!
Channel 5 just reported the part about trying to buy ammonium nitrate--interviewed the clerk. So some stuff is starting to come out! This guy said he did NOT believe the father's claim that it must have been an accident!
Go to the index of The Threat Matrix threads.
There is an index of all the threads.
You may find that helpful.
I was just listening to him. He's the only one I've heard bring up the discussion since Saturday when it happened. Maybe it will pick up some traction elsewhere now. And he's right - we deserve answers given the war on terror and all (oh, I forgot, the media doesn't talk about that anymore.)
That (*&^& CBS affiliate site you mentioned has no ^%&^&%&* website!!! Aaarrghhh!
Oh sure, and I would expect the FBI and the various enforcement agencies to try to keep this under wraps. That's their job.
The media, or so they tell me, has a different job and I think that this story should have had some legs. It was at least as important as the boat accident in NY, and perhaps, it may be a turning point in our history.
The totality of the silence is a story in and of itself. It tells me that the media's roll in society isn't what they are telling us it is. But of course, we all knew that.
You know, I was listening to WLS radio from Chicago this afternoon, the host Roe Conn was asking Ron Magers who is a tv anchor in Chicago about this very thing. Why is this being talked about now?
Magers said the Pres has mentioned it a number of times lately, as have others, not sure now who he said.
He said they're now talking about the military controlling and quarantining large areas of population in the US, so I think we had all better be prepared to shelter in place for some time, it sounds like.
This weekend would be a good time for them to go to OU's stadium, since it'll be empty. OU plays Texas in Dallas at the Cotton Bowl. It'll be nationally televised, hopefully just for the football.
I'm more concerned about high school games. Security is basicly to keep kids from fighting, not searching bags, and I can imagine how bad a bomb under a bleecher full of kids would be.
MSM is MIA! Our local media is being held back because they cannot get anyone to source on the record. Everything is off the record so they won't go public but gradually they are finding the information and reporting/printing that info.
LOL!
That's double-plus good for 'suppress', apparently.
Good job! By the time I correct my erros, I forget what the next line was.
See post #4119. News media is held back by lack of "on the record" information from law enforcement. No media conspiracy here.
Good job! By the time I correct my erros, I forget what the next line was.
Rick Roberts: maybe it's me, maybe I'm having a bad day, watched every minute of the press conf. today -- steroids, bird flu -- distractions, while people are streaming over the borders. Not one question about that.
Not one word about a homicide bomber at OU.
Talking about the non-Mexicans (OTMs) crossing the borders. Number has tripled in 3 years. Over 120,000 in the past year.
Roberts saying that the Mexicans if caught are deported, but the OTMs are arrested, and then released...
He took callers, but I had to go after the first one.

Well, I miss too much! Wish I could get it all.
This is OU/Texas weekend in Dallas. They had better tighten the entrance security more than it was at our game on Saturday where they did a cursory check of bags at the gate we entered.
Wow.
Yes IIRC he was talking about areas that could be used for quarantine. I imagine sick people would have to be moved, you can't quarantine a whole city.
We should use the hurricane bedlam as a warning, I can see people trying to escape or get away from infectious areas. Not a pretty picture.
I have also heard that there is no way enough vaccine can be made for everyone and if I remember the percentage they do/will have is very small.
It does. It's newsok.com. They share it with the Daily Oklahoman.
I've been a little evangelical about this. I'll ask one of my "smoking buddies" outside by the loading dock, "Say, did you hear about what happened in Oklahoma this weekend?" After, I tell them, they are absolutely incredulous. I tell them, "Ask why. This tells you something about our media."
Added to my list. Now the MSM goes into CYA mode.
That's what I was thinking, too. They've been having a rash of car breakins at highschool games--no security at all, practically.
I'll let you know... as luck would have it, I will be at that game, too...
For those who may not know, the Texas-OU game is played at the Cotton Bowl, which sits in Fair Park near downtown Dallas - and yes, the State Fair is going on right now...
I'm not sure.
She sounded pretty jovial for someone reporting details about an attempted suicide bombing.
About time! I was complaining at the game on Saturday that no one bothered to look at the bag I was carrying except a cursory look -- I put my purse in an OU bag and the person barely looked at it and didn't even look in my daughter's purse. Looks like I wasn't the only one not happy.
That deal on halftime has changed back and forth so much I still thought we couldn't leave the stadium at halftime until I read people were going out during halftime. Glad they shut it down again like they did after 9-11! I am one of the people that stay in my seat for halftime.
You know, you're right -- "suppress" is more like it.
I just can't believe we're being manipulated like this. Someone upthread used the word "insulted" -- that's exactly what it is, it's insulting to be kept in the dark this way.
Well, I suppose if most people never hear about this story, then it didn't happen. But that means the 1% or less of the population have to figure it out for ourselves.

"Hinrichs Tried To Buy Ammonium Nitrate"
POSTED: 5:16 pm CDT October 4, 2005
UPDATED: 6:10 pm CDT October 4, 2005
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "NORMAN, Okla. -- The general manager of a Norman feed store said Tuesday that Joel Henry Hinrichs III had inquired about purchasing a significant amount of ammonium nitrate, the primary ingredient used in the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing.
Dustin Ellison, the general manager of Ellison Feed & Seed on Porter Avenue, said that a man matching Hinrichs' description had come into the store days before he blew himself up on OU's campus. Ellison said the man asked about ammonium nitrate, but couldn't offer a reason why he needed it."

"Dad: Oklahoma student bomber wasn't politically motivated"
Tuesday, October 4, 2005; Posted: 12:41 p.m. EDT (16:41 GMT) NORMAN, Oklahoma (AP) --
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "The father of a University of Oklahoma student who committed suicide outside a packed football stadium using explosives said Monday his son didn't intend to harm anyone else or push a political agenda.
Joel Henry Hinrichs III, 21, died Saturday when a device attached to his body exploded about 8 p.m. while he sat on a bench, officials said.
The blast could be heard inside the stadium less than 100 yards away where more than 80,000 people attended OU's game against Kansas State.
Joel Hinrichs Jr. said that his son did not leave a suicide note and that FBI agents told him hydrogen peroxide was used to construct the bomb."

They'll post them there, but it might not be until late tonight or early tomorrow before the link is put in. I prefer News 9 because they're locally owned, but at least Channel 5 has actually posted their fertilizer story already.
I know one thing, there is no way on earth I'll ever get into a stadium or convention center with 30,000 people to be quarantined...
The fact that there is an obvious MEDIA BLACKOUT indicates that there IS a Homeland Security aspect to this event.
Lack of information has never stopped them before.
That is part of it, but there's more to this. "The LEO's didn't tell me" excuse is just being offered to provide plausible deny-ability.
Ah, the "solid" maybe?
Influenza viruses that infect birds are called avian influenza viruses. These are type A influenza viruses that are genetically distinguishable from influenza viruses that usually infect people. There are many subtypes of avian influenza A viruses, including H7 and H5. Avian influenza viruses can be distinguished as low pathogenic and high pathogenic forms based on genetic features of the virus and the severity of the illness they cause in poultry. Birds that are infected with avian influenza viruses can shed virus in saliva, nasal secretions, and feces. Contact with feces or respiratory secretions is important in the transmission of infection among poultry. Between flocks, infection usually spreads due to movement of infected birds and the actions of humans in moving feedstuff, personnel, equipment, and vehicles into and from premises that are contaminated with infected feces or respiratory secretions. The duration that these viruses can survive in the environment depends on temperature and humidity conditions, but they may survive up to weeks in cooler and moister conditions. Avian influenza viruses do not usually infect humans; however, several instances of human infections and outbreaks of avian influenza have been reported since 1997. In 2003, influenza A (H7N7) infections occurred among persons who handled affected poultry and their families in the Netherlands during an outbreak of avian flu among poultry. More than 80 cases of H7N7 illness were reported (the symptoms were mostly confined to eye infections, with some respiratory symptoms), and one patient died (a veterinarian who had visited an H7N7 flu-affected farm). Although there was evidence of limited person-to-person spread of infection, sustained human-to-human transmission did not occur in this or other outbreaks of avian influenza. It is believed that most cases of avian influenza infection in humans have resulted from contact with infected poultry or contaminated surfaces. However, other means of transmission are also possible, such as the virus becoming aerosolized and landing on exposed surfaces of the mouth, nose, or eyes, or being inhaled into the lungs. Background: Avian Influenza
Well, if anything were to happen at another game, it will be spun until they can't keep spinning it anymore, just as is happening with this "suicide".
