Calm down and go re-read your question to which I posted my response.

I'm not anti SUV or anything like that. As far as I'm concerned, your money? your business.

In terms of logic however, my answer stands. Assuming the guy w/ the econo box drives 100k miles per year and really needs to (ie. he'll drive 100k / yr no matter what), then he IS being a good steward of the environment (not to mention his wallet) by driving and economy car.

Sorry if you can't see the logic in that.

Its not so much SUVs that I hate but the women who drive them. The bigger the car, the smaller the woman.

"Which may be way too late for this gas price cycle.
By 2007, everyone will be driving VW TDIs (where not
outlawed by envirowackos) and hybrids from faster
moving producers. "

In Europe, about 40 percent of new vehicle sales are/were recently diesels.

"It becomes my business when gas prices are at an all time high. I live in a Texas city filled with unnecessary SUV's. Just drive through one of many local corporate office parking lots for a view. High fuel consumption hurts, even those of us that try to do what is right by driving a non-gas guzzler. Poseur logic...costs me."

Have you ever lived in a rationed economy? I have. Everybody got equal "ration cards" for sugar, coffee, gasoline, cigarettes, hard liquor, etc.

Is that your way, of taking "unnecessary SUVs" off the road?

FYI what is "necessary" for one is "unnecessary" for another.

Who do you propose as the big judge, of "necessary" and "unnecessary?"

Did you know that economic and personal freedom are closely linked, no matter what some might think?

It's called Poseur Logic. Making yourself feel good about an irrational position. SUV's for 95% of the drivers are irrational.

What bothers me most about the Ford Excursion is certain of its drivers: spindly young ladies with too much power in their hands and too little eye-hand coordination in their brains. I have no problem with anyone owning or driving whatever vehicle of whatever size they wish. But it does look frightening to see one pretty little lady driving that monster through the bank drive-up. The least she can do is ask me to ride along. I'll even help with the driving; get her past those nasty pylons at the ATM.

Owning one of those is strictly a vanity statement..no one needs something that freakin big...

That's not for you to determine. DU is calling...they've lost one of their well-stocked supply of village idiots.

Now, as for the Excursion...if people are dumb enough to buy a FORD product, that's their own choice in a free society. As for me, I'm sticking to my gas sucking, horsepower pushing, kid-hauling GM products.

Sorry sonny, you don't get to decide what my needs are. I own and drive a HUMMVEE (not that pissant Denali wannabe H2, either). And guess what, I could care less what diesel costs. And I'll keep driving it, too. And when fuel prices go up, I don't carp, I look for ways to increase my cash flow to afford it...it keeps me competitive in my field.

I suppose it is irrational to eat too much, exercize too little, drink coffee, tea, booze, smoke cigarettes, pipes, cigars, get tattoos, get piercings, spend your own money frivously, etc.

Perhaps all may fall under your "Poseur Logic" too.

SUVs come in small, medium, large and very large. We have small, medium, large station wagons. We have mini-vans. We have pickup trucks, small, medium, large and very large.

Then we have all of the folks buying/leasing/using each.

I reckon you are among the best, at evaluating their own needs and wants, and branding them rational or irrational.

Please disclose formula, to all.

As I stated previously, economic freedom is very closely linked to personal freedom. That comes from Milton and Rose Freeman.
