This one sounds serious to me. ALthough having said that, now that the word is out and law enforcement is out, they'll probably avert the attack.
NYPD To Issue Transit Terror Warning

UPDATED: 5:45 pm EDT October 6, 2005NEW YORK -- A new terror threat to the New York City subway system has prompted the New York Police Department and federal law enforcement officials to ramp up security across the city.
Intelligence information indicates a terror cell overseas was planning to target the subways in a plan that some investigators say might try to mirror the deadly attacks on the transit systems of London and Madrid, NewsChannel 4 has learned.
"This is the first time we have had a threat at this level of specificity," New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said at a press conference.
The FBI and NYPD have been alerted that suspects might try to use backpacks, briefcases or even baby carriages to smuggle explosives into the subways, according to sources.
One source stressed that the warning is still uncorroborated. Nevertheless, NYPD officials felt the information was specific enough to warrant extra precautions.
Law enforcement sources said several terror suspects have been captured overseas, but there is concern that some members of a sleeper cell might be in the New York City area. Authorities have launched a manhunt to root out possible suspects.
The threat indicated the attack was planned for the second week of October -- perhaps around the time of elections in Iraq -- and specifically targeted trains in New York City, sources said.
For the past week, the NYPD, federal law enforcement officials and international intelligence agencies have been trying to track the threat information. Because of the arrests overseas, they are considering the threat to be a credible one.
As a precaution, extra police will be on the trains and subways to increase security. The NYPD will immediately begin expanding its bag searches at subway stations across the city.
There are no terrorists in Iraq- never were. Going in there was a mistake. Saddam was just a harmless peaceful man minding his own business.

It probably wouldn't be a good idea to be an arab-looking subway passenger carrying a briefcase or backpack this afternoon.
They tried for two days to catch the guys it sounds like to me and since they couldn't, now they feel they have to warn the public.

It's killing the media that the FBI, NYPD and Mayor know more about the plot than they do! No one will give specifics, nor should they.

It's better to get on record the determination to defeat these a**holes before they hit us again. And it's only a matter of time before they hit us again. OU was awfully close...
Remember, Let us not hastily single anyone out getting on the train just because the look Mid-Eastern, are carrying a briefcase and arrived at the station with 18 other young Arab males with briefcases, that would be a No No.
I think they may be picking this time because many Jews are taking off from work because of Rosh Hashanah/Yom Kippur and the towelheads can say "See..the Jews knew! They stayed home!"
Maybe that's why the MTA has been saturating the radio airways the last couple of days with public service announcements about the need to stay alert and report unusual situations like people dressed inappropriately for the weather, bags with wires hanging out from them, etc. I started hearing the ads on Tuesday night during the Mark Levin show on WABC radio in NYC and heard it again last night during Laura Ingram's show.
Well now I'm sick.
