There's something big coming in this city (Chris Matthews)
MSNBC ^ | oct. 19, 2005 | MSNBC

Posted on 10/19/2005 2:12:53 PM PDT by blogblogginaway

'Hardball' host Chris Matthews discussed the latest in the Plame leak case with MSNBC's Amy Robach on Wednesday morning. Here's an excerpt of what he had to say:

...............If there are indictments, they're going to be probably in the vice president's office, they're probably going to come next week and they are going to blow this White House apart.

It's going to be unbelievable.

I think the people watching right now who are voters better start paying attention to this issue. It's not just about whether somebody's name was leaked, it's about whether we went to war under false pretenses or not, whether people knew about that or not, and what they did when they were charged against that kind of offense against the United States.

It's serious business.

Because????

Bush is running for re-election?--Not

Cheney is going to run for President?--Not

Chris really needs to lay off the hard stuff for a few days. :-)

Ed Rogers didn't even blink when he said that...what is up with that?

Wouldn't you be a HERO to Chrissy and gang, but any politician would HAVE to be leery of every hiring you again.

Now Chris is hoping for a "manifesto" by Fitz. The speaker wants a report even if there isn't an indictment, which we all know by now is not allowed, but there it is, still out there. If we can't indict, please say something ugly about the Administration. Oh, Chrissy thinks there won't be a report because there'll be an indictment. By golly, this is fascinating. I guess watching crazy people is, like passing a wreck on the highway.

From that last little sequence with Rich and Byron York...

You could really tell that the left DO NOT want a report if there are no indictments...I guess because it MIGHT just verify the lies of Wilson, the nepotism of Plame...and the idiocy of the charges...

Mr. Shrum should see if he can find out how Bush "fixed" the Iraqi election. Has any candidate Shrum's worked for actually been elected, to anything? Or am I thinking of some other ubiquitous but unsuccessful Democrat?

I was struck by how Shrum never referred to Rove by name. He repeatedly referred to him as Bush's Brain. The other fellow should have called him on that one too.

Chalaby who has turned out to have a great deal of support in Iraq but was hated by the CIA.

I rarely watch Matthews anymore and didn't realize that he also attacked Chalabi. It figures though, when I did watch he couldn't contain his seething hatred of Cheney and the so called neo-cons (who backed Chalabi). I was interested to learn that Judith Miller also has a long standing relationship with Chalabi.

You are absolutely right about "its the funniest show on television". He is so over the top -- I watch his show only for the laugh factor, and I let him know it every day by email in which I give him specific examples why. MSNBC is so far gone...that their ratings are off the (bottom) of the charts. Chrissy is a fool.

Hildy, the problem is once again the GOP, The President, the President's men, whoever allowed the dems to frame the issue.

Bush made nice instead of coming out swinging. He even apologized, for God's sake. Instead of taking Wilson to task, instead of fighting lies with the truth, he played nice. It has bitten us in the butt once again, the damage is cumulative.

You are right...it is a story from nothing and it did not have to be that way.

You aren't alone, but his meltdown has attracted some of us to tune in. Regarding the Chalabi matter, I am quite interested in that, recalling the raid on his offices, the attempt to make him appear as a criminal. That went nowhere, but it was quite the story at the time. There are some very nefarious plots that go on about I wish I knew a whole lot more.

You don't understand.

Chris has "inside info" about what Fitzgerald is doing.

Fitzgerald is so serious about people who violated the law and leaked information that he is allowing people in his team to violate the law by leaking information to the press, aka. Chris Matthews, who would be violating law by recieving the secret information. Wait?

It is a circle of stupidity.

Regarding the Chalabi matter, I am quite interested in that, recalling the raid on his offices, the attempt to make him appear as a criminal.

I am also interested in that. I didn't know what to make of that raid...there was a lot of back and forth and I remember Condi Rice, when asked about it, saying that he would have his opportunity in the future. (She didn't seem to act as if the charges were credible. It was more like time will tell attitude.) When I read about the Chalabi-Miller relationship I thought of that raid and how it, like the Plame investigation, seemed to highlight some element within our government at war with the Bush administration.
