>>""- the largest new entitlement ($1 trillion) since Lyndon Johnson's "Great Society"""

>He ran on that in 2000...you obviously werent paying attention.

He ran on a $400 billion program - not good, but ignoring this was a sacrifice worth making for achiveving our main goal - correcting the courts.

>> ""- taking no action against Kofi Annan, going back to the UN repeatedly after its perfidy was already proven""

>Exactly what action can the POTUS take against the UN Sec General? Personally arrest him? Perhaps you missed the recess appointment of John Bolton

Bolton was a good step. Long overdue, but a good step. However, merely appointing an ambassador is a pittance when compared to the influence we can exert upon that organization. Between us and strong allies who could be depended on to act sympathetically (Japan especially) we supply three quarters of the UN's total resources in addition to hosting its headquarters, staffing, and incalculable diplomatic support.

This is an organization headed by what reasonably appears to have been the ringleader of the largest bribery racket ever discovered (and probably ever, given the sums of $20 billion plus), an organization that has collaborated extensively with our enemy. It is a bad investment and one that fuels those who wish destruction upon us as easily - perhaps more easily - as it might contribute to some good. The number of concrete steps taken against this organization which shares much credit for the ending of American (and other) lives has been woefully insufficient.

>"- kissing up to the Saudis" Done by every President since Truman

There's only been one President in the post-9/11 era. Makes a difference, don't you think? The Wahabbi flourish freely in many parts of the world, and we fund it through oil markets. What do you think the Saudis are doing with all the money they get for pulling oil out of the ground (or merely allowing it)? In Islam, zakat is an obligatory 10% charity tax. Only the Islamic idea of charity includes beheading infidels for the glory of Allah.

>> buying into affirmative action and similar race-based/gender-based discrimination programs"

> Again you obviously didnt study his record as Gov of Texas.

No, sadly the ballot didn't offer much else of a choice. My line then was "voting Bush because there is no reasonable alternative". It didn't mean endorsing every policy that might stem from the unresolved neuroses of the 1960s.

>>"pouring hundreds of billions into the corruption and waste pit formerly known as New Orleans"
> There was a guest on Bill Bennent who today noted that Congress appropiration of $62b was far more than needed. Congress has not spent 100s of billions on New Orleans and wont. Instead there are efforts to turn the Gulf Coast into a tax free zone, get school vouchers. There have been stories in the NYT about how liberals are extremely demoralized about how conservatives have used Katrina to further a conservative free market solution for dealing with the clean up. Of course youre so poorly informed about so much that Bush ran on in 2000 and before, I am not surprised you still think the govt is spending 100s billions on New Orleans clean up.

If that is the case I am indeed poorly informed about it and welcome the relatively good news. Last I heard, they were ready to appropriate $200 billion and were talking about more. $62 billion is still a large chunk of change.

>> "doing absolutely nothing to establish energy independence"
> there is no such thing. The fact you think so, shows your immaturity

We could establish energy independence through a combination of nuclear power, domestic oil/coal/natural gas, and a minor contribution by alternative energy sources, using today's technology, if we had to, but cheap oil makes most other sources of energy impractical. Thus people commute to work in SUVs rather than innovating in the energy sector.

However... I should have said "energy security" which would be sufficient. Were Saudi Arabia not funding a worldwide jihad then the current situation might not be disagreeable. But when passenger planes fly into skyscrapers and all the people who did it were Saudi (save four Egyptians, of the 19 total), we have, how shall I say... unresolved issues. The reasons are compelling to take greater steps to wean ourselves off our enemies' resources, unless we're prepared to sieze them outright for ourselves.

It's not only possible it's imperative for survival. The enemy has endless ignorant and helpless masses upon which he can foist his ideology. While we supply it, he also has immense resources.

... missed this part:

>> "providing rhetorical and material support for the Palestinians in their war to exterminate the Jews"

> I am Jewish and dotn agree with you what so ever. Bush has been the most pro-Israel POTUS since 1948.

I'm not so sure about that. He often acts through his State Department to rebuke Israel about reasonable measures of self-defense. He supplies the corrupt Palestinian leadership with hundreds of millions of dollars. He continues with the pretense of the "Road Map" even though its very first condition has yet to be met. Is this the best since Truman? It is not even close to good enough.

It is amazing to see that a Freeper still watches CNN.
