And now we get to the soft underbelly of the Astros' bullpen--although the overbelly of their bullpen has been pretty soft, too.

Wow, I went to the kitchen at the bottom of the 4th, come back in the 5th, and the Sox go from a shutout to a 1 run lead!

Could you not do that again?! LOL!

Let me ask the Astros fans a serious question. A lot of the sportscasters were making a huge deal about the hill in center, and how the Sox would have trouble negoiating it. Does the hill and pole come into play all that often? I mean it is over 400 ft to dead center. Would it normally come into play 2 or 3 times in a series or is it just a rare occurance?

It hardly ever is a factor or encountered during the natural course of play. During the NLCS maybe twice, IIRC, and not a problem for either Taveras or Jim ___ (StL CFer)

Rosa Parks? The Astros' bullpen must be really hard up!

My goodness, what happened to Aaron Neville? Does he now outweigh his former duet partner, Linda Ronstadt?

Regardless of who wins the series, I'll be happy. On one hand, the Astros may never have been to a World Series, yet their organization has only been around since 1960. Meanwhile, the White Sox organization was rooted at the beginning of the 20th Century and their last World Series was 1959. Both teams have long dreamed about being where they're at for 40+ years.

BTTT

I was born in Houston in the 50's

The Astros are in the World Serious

God Bless America....Man that was sweet!

Jim ___ (StL CFer)

Edmonds, the human highlight reel in centerfield.

The hill probably comes into play about once a series. Unless the ball has some lift to allow a good centerfielder to get out there, it just turns home runs into doubles or triples.

Too bad the fans can't just sing "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" instead of this straining at being goody-goody.

What is wrong with these Astros fans? They're sitting there like they're shell-shocked. If this was the World Series (or even a regular season game) at Fenway Park in Boston, all 35,000 fans would be chanting - in unison - a deafening "Let's go Red Sox!!!"

You have to understand that Houston has a long, long history of seeing their teams collapse. It would be as if the Celtics and Bruins had never won any championships in Boston. The Houston Oilers blew the biggest lead in NFL history. They got robbed in a Pittsburgh playoff game so bad that the NFL added instant replay the next year in response. The University of Houston lost perhaps the biggest upset in the history of the NCAA championship game. In 1986 the Astros lost the greatest playoff game ever played. The list goes on and on, but we've seen it so many times before, a team chokes, messes up its head, and never recovers. This series we've lost the head of our closer, one of our setup guys, and now our best starting pitcher, not to mention that Roger Clemens may not pitch again this year, and may retire. It now is just a matter of when, not if, and the same old familiar taste in the mouth returns.

Reminds me of two songs, 'Secondhand Rose' and Howard Jones 'No One Is to Blame'. "You can dip your foot in the pool, but you can't have a swim..."

"Too bad the fans can't just sing "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" instead of this straining at being goody-goody."

We're here to watch the game. All this other crap is distracting. BTW, can't anybody sing the National Anthem or God Bless America without all the falsetto, wavering interpretations?

I wouldn't touch that with a 410-foot fly.
