"Ugly" - Was to strong a word - My apologize, I meant no disrespect - I should perhaps used the word "discouragingly" instead -

My point being the leadership shown on the GWOT is far to often continually overlooked by those on both sides of the aisle.

Thank you for the apology.

As for the WOT, perhaps if you read more of my posts you'd have noted my statements that the only reason I hadn't abandoned the GOP to this date is out of respect to our troops in the field and knowledge that while the Reps are slowly in capitulation mode (amendment to protect terrorists/new amendment to know all clandistine prisons/trying to run the war from their cosy quarters in the Congress as with 'Nam/inability to vocally defend this war and President on this war and troops from insult by their counterparts in Congress) that I recognize the Dems' action would be to withdraw immediately bringing about a bloodbath like in 'Nam and blame it all on Bush.

So, yes, on an important level I, and many others, have stuck it out because of the WOT & our troops. But that support diminishes with every capitulation Republicans make on the WOT.

Amazing that the write up does not address the Central Arctic Herd growing at a faster rate than the Porcupine rate at the time when all the oil development expanding into the CAH territory. If it is detrimental to the herd, how is the immense growth in the CAH explained? And the oil development covers a much larger portion of the CAH area than the proposed area drilling area in 1002 would affect the Porcupine herd area, meaning the impact to the Porcupine herd would be less.

You also should read the reports from the experts 30 years ago, explaining how the CAH was not going to be able to withstand the development in their area. Little is talked about how wrong they were in similar explanations.

Actually, the Revolution of 1994 (The Great Sweep of 1994) sputtered out in the mid and late 1990s under Majority "Leader" Senator Spent-a-Lott.

The decay has accelerated even further due to George Bush's presidency, where Bush has become the biggest spender in the history of the world.

Mike Pence, one of the few true conservatives told Rush Limbaugh that phone calls and faxes do get noticed.
My suggestion is to contact George Allen. He is a solid conservative who has indicated a run for president.
Hannity, Ingram & Limbaugh have all said good things about this man.
It seems as if GW BUSH is either overwhelmed or under enthused about the Conservative agenda. My heart goes out to President Bush, he has faced nothing but hostility and slander from day one. However, whenever MSM throws a hissy fit, or the Senate Democrats play hardball, Bush seems to appease to please. This implies guilt on his part and demoralizes conservative base voters. I'm rambling....In short, perhaps its time to go around GW and look to 2006 & 2008?

Can someone post the names of those in Congress who decided to take out the drilling option? Also, we should hold those people accountable by voting them out! I'd rather be in the minority than have a majority of mediocrity!

"Ladies and gentlemen ... After reading other threads here at FP it has become very clear that it is time these politicians for life, of all parties, are kicked out on their big fat behinds. They are RIDICULOUS!"

It's clear you are over-reacting... if 200 in the House do the RIGHT thing, and 25 RINOS and every Democrat does the WRONG thing, then if conservatives punish them all and the Liberals keep voting for those dangerous liberals, we will get House Speaker Pelosi...

Is that what you want?

"The politicians are so far out of touch with the common, hard-working American that they don't know or do they care what our interests, needs, concerns and hopes are. OUT you slimy turds!"

What a non-helpful attitude. My conservative Republican Congressman represents what we believe with and the interests of our district, state and nation very well... the problem is this: There are only maybe 180 conservative Republican congressmen and congresswomen like him!

We need to kick out only the RINOs and defeat the liberals. That is the solution, and not throwing out the baby with the bathwater.

I hope you are right, but If Sen Domenici is pissed, and you KNOW ANWR passed by the thinnest threads in the Senate, then it indicates there is a real danger that this gets dropped. Besides, why can we get Republican to vote right on an important issue that most Americans agree with the President on. Why can we let Republicans defy the president and party ? ... ANWR is a big deal, it shows whether we are going to actually take control of our energy future or get it dictated by the middle east.

I would propose that the GOP bashing be reserved for those 15 or so Republicans in the House who are declining to support the leadership and the great majority of the party. Also, Senator Domenici of New Mexico says he fully intends to get the provision back into the bill at conference. Then the House vote on the conference bill will be the time to twist arms, and I'm sure the Hammer will be willing to help.]"

CORRECT!

"The GOP is largely a group of worthless liberal politicians (rino's,moderates, republicrats)who are going further left daily. They do not represent conservative values and are departing from constitutional liberties guarantied by the our founding forefathers, largely Christians."

INCORRECT.

Most GOP Reps and leaders *are* conservatives and act that way. Yet with 200 conservative Republicans,
200 socialist Democrats, a handful of 'moderate' Democrats, and about 30 RINOs, the balance of power in the House is with the RINOs and swing Democrats.

Dont blame conservative Republicans for the mis-behavior of the non-conservative RINOs.

"We lost a million barrels of oil production from the gulf, and the price shot up 7 bucks a barrel.

If Clinton hadn't vetoed the bill in 1995, we would have a million barrels a day coming from Alaska."

This is important to note!!
That extra million barrels a day, in the marginal balance between supply and demand, would have kept oil at $30 a barrel or less in the past 2 years.

It would have saved America about $30 billion in our trade deficit, per year, if you add both the impact on domestic supply and the impact on prices.

We are throwing a way a TRILLION dollars to 'preserve' a parcel of a vast wasteland that would be hardly impacted at all by the drilling anyway.

I emailed the traitors and asked House Leaders to reprimand them and get some party discipline. I also asked Frist to poll Pub Senators on this issue and even asked W to intervene. All 13 of these RINO's should face conservative primary opponents. And the political junkies like some here as well as some of our conserv interest groups should fund them. Steve Moore for example. To see the 4-5-6 who won last time by 2-4% points lose would not jeopardize House majority status and would do the Party good.

"The 1002 area of ANWR, where drilling would take place, is the prime calving ground for the Porcupine caribou herd, which is probably the largest remaining herd of wild hoofed mammals in North America. In the fall, the 1002 area is also where thousands of snow geese fatten up for a long southward migration."

Yawn. They are on a piece of real estate that is worth one trillion dollars if we drill. They won't get impacted much at all. The drilling will be environmentally responsible and will impact only a few thousand acres... this is the size of a suburban subdivision, in a wilderness the size of north carolina.

This extremist propoganda about how its the end of the world in ANWR if we poke a few holes in the ground blows things totally out of proportion... Before, during and after we drill in ANWR, the caribou will be there. They arent going away.

"Chamberlain said the members of her coalition stressed again last night that they would vote against any final agreement that reinstated the drilling provisions."

"We're in for a lot of continuing resolutions, it appears."

NO. We are in for an uprising against these idiot RINOs who are putting emotionalism and eco-extremism above common sense and Republican party unity.

The are a bunch of POS RINOs who need a quick swift kick in the rear.

"this does it for me - never will I vote Republican again - I am totally embarrassed i voted for them this time with this Anwar fiasco - I am pissed."

" These idiot Republican Senators call the oil companies into question about profits - these blowhard bastards"

Please. Pay attention!
It was the DEMOCRATS who called the oil execs on the carpet then turned around and voted against ANWR. It is Republicans like Ted Stevens standing up for common sense here.
Sen Boxer, Dem socialist from Cali, tried to lecture the oil execs, ran over time, got shot down by sen stevens, then had a little temper tantrum to speak further ill of free enterprise. That was this week. It happens every week.

We would be drilling in ANWR *now* if the Democrats and their special interests werent against it. The shame is how they peeled off a few northeast RINOs.

"The party PRIMARILY responsible for our dependence on foreign oil is the GOVERNMENT, yet they question and cast blame on oil companies when the price is set in the WORLD markets..."

Absolutely... but you should be saying "screw the democrats and the RINOs" because THEY are the guilty parties. Dont cast blame on the blameless...

"how these jackasses get elected is beyond me"

Silly comment.... Dont you think Kennedy Clinton and Schumer are jackasses? How do THEY get elected?

" but I for one, will NEVER vote for another repub"

Why not? Most Republicans are doing the right thing here.
100% of Democrats and 10% of Republicans are doing the wrong thing. YOU ARE BLAMING THE WRONG PEOPLE.

"they are a total embarrassment"

No, RINOs and Democrats are an embarrassment.

"....and I have been a republican for my entire life"

Dittos, and when I see that 90% of Republicans are FOR ANWR drilling and 90% of Democrats are AGAINST ANWR drilling, it is clear to me:
- The democrats are beholden to the eco-extremists and will harm our national security, our energy future, and our trade balance to grovel to that special interest
- The Republican are mostly trying to do the right thing, despite a biased media that attacks them constantly and despite DC 'kultursmog' that make conservatism a brave stance in the Federal city, and despite UNGRATEFUL 'conservatives' who do little but complain a lot when things go wrong

" - this is the last frickin' straw"

What an inane comment. As a cosnervative, I've had too many 'last straws' to count: Bush 41's tax increase; 'losing' the 1995 budget showdown battle; mccain-fiengold passing. That's politics, you win, you lose, you gear up for the next battle. Get over yourself; we need to punish the truly guilty parties here, the Democrats and RINOs who have stopped ANWR development, and give conservatives a boost by not laying into them for something they are not to blame for.
