Forgive the vanity, but I just heard that Rep. Jean Schmidt, the newest Republcan congresswoman from Ohio, had to withdraw her remarks in the debate about the bill about withdrawl from Iraq. She was merely quoting a Marine who wrote her and said of Democratic appeaesment "Cowards cut and run. Marines finish the job." Why on earth would she be made to apologize for this? She was not directly calling anyone cowards, but these Democrats are most assuredly that for their emerging cut and run policy on Iraq.
It's amazing, Democrats can make the most outrageous comments attacking the president on the floor of the House accusing the president of lying to get America into war and other such slanders, but Schmidt quotes a Marine far better than any of those low lives on the Democratic side and she's made to apologize?? Nancy Piglosi regularly makes the most ugly and vile accusations against the president and never is she called to account for it.
Amazing, even when the Republicans finally go bare knuckles against these Scumbagcrats, still the Republicans act like wussies and back down from saying what should be said. Heck, what Schmidt said is the least that should be said against these Rats. We should be on the floor calling them seditious liars emboldening our enemies and causing our allies in Iraq to doubt our staying power which will only prolong how long it takes to hand over security to the Iraqis.
Why is it wrong to quote a Marine who is dead-on accurate but okay to take to the floor of the House like Murtha did and give a morale boost to our enemies who today celebrated their big moral and political victories in Congress this week by blowing up Shiites in their mosques and setting off car bombs across Bagdhad. Why is it wrong to call them on this and lay the blood spilt today at their feet? Why is decorum more important than standing up to people bluntly and candidly who advocate for things that will greatly damage American security? Why is it wrong to expose them for what they are but Murtha is worshipped as a hero for giving a tremendous energy boost to our enemies while demoralizing our troops and our allies in Iraq? When will anyone ask Murtha what the cost will be when we're forced to go back into Iraq if we retreat now to end the rogue, Al Qaeda regime that will take over there and turn Iraq into another Afghanistan?
We're living in a topsy-turvy country right now where right is considered wrong and wrong considered right. And we have few moral voices to speak up against it. And when they do, they're swatted down even by members of their own party. Our republic is in jeopardy my friends.
Even though I consider the democratic party to be a communist organizaton I will in the future refer to them as the "Vichy" party, a group of collaborators.
Jean Schmidt is my Congress Critter.
She's in over her head. She does not impress me.
No problem. I go right to the end of a lot of threads too.
I really think if she hadn't mentioned Murtha's name she wouldn't have withdrawn the e-mail comments.
Col. Brown looks exactly like my stepson who was in Iraq in '03.
What would have happened to her if she'd responded, "I stand by my quote, and have no regret"?
The House would have been forced to make a larger issue of it by attempting to reprimand her!
There, Quote me. USMC 73-75
Semper Fi
She should restate it without mentioning Murtha's yellow name.
The guy served- and I salute him for it..sorry to be snippy- but how long etc doesn't matter. What MATTERS is that he's betrayed his Marine Corps and every other member of the military.
What Congresswoman Schmidt did was gutsy- it needed to be said and heard.
"Our Republic is just fine right now. There is a PROCEDURAL rule that doesn't allow a member to call out another member by name."
This incident is not the only one that makes me say our Republic is in jeopardy. That Americans are claiming Clinton is more honest than Bush, that Democrats can now feel safe advocating a cut and run policy from Iraq because Americans are enabling them, that Americans say they want evil, congenital liars with no vision, no agenda beyond "we hate Bush" back in charge of Congress, that we have a news media actively working with Democrats to shape perceptions against the war and for every left wing position there is, that we have so many who have forgotten 9-11 and think we can afford to retreat from Al Qaeda, and on and on and on...we're in trouble my friend. Deceit and lies are winning. Truth is on the ropes. There is no silent majority advocating what's right anymore...
The ".. and I have a message for Congressman Murtha" lead-in is what caused the trouble.
LOL- thanks :)
He's got a perfect bearing to deal with hese IDIOTS asking uninformed questions..
Couldn`t agree with you more. Didn`t matter that she "took down her words"...what is important is that they were said
He has been in Congress for 17 terms that,if fully served is 68 years. This guy is walking reason for term limits. Read his statement and see if you think he is senile. His concept makes no sense no matter where you stand.
Heh, heh. Right.
She essentially said, "Members of Congress, I apologize for calling our Mr. Murtha when I read a letter from a Marine who implied he is a coward for cutting and running."
If you are going to believe the biased polling that's out there, then you have something to worry about.
don't make a mountain out of a molehill ok?
80% of the country votes for the letter beside the name. They don't even KNOW what is going on. It's always been that way.
That is one point of view. There is also something to be said for not lowering yourself to the level of your enemy.
The lady made her point. The apology is noise compared to the fact that she did voice the Marine's point about cowards.
Time for a new tag.
