Sweet!! This was an outstanding move by the Pubbies - exactly the kind of thing our troops needed to see.

This was the vote count I was asking about at the rally - one person thought it was a close vote. I'm happy to report that was not the case.

I've always found that people who have the need to ask others "getting any" do so because they live vicariously through others.

Some people do not want to search through 7000 posts looking for the vote results.

Some people too lazy to hit "Last" and go back a page or two...

Here comes the spin: From AP:

WASHINGTON - The House on Friday overwhelmingly rejected calls for an immediate troop withdrawal from Iraq, a vote engineered by the Republicans that was intended to fail. Democrats derided the vote as a political stunt.

Should a guy have to search through a 6,000+ post thread to find the final vote tally of this extremely important breaking news?

This is the new media, sometimes events like this need a 2nd or even 3rd thread to clarify important points of the overall discussion.

He should have followed up the title with "House Republicans grow a spine, first time for this session."

Another one who hasn't ever thought about punching in at the end.

If the other 70,000 of us can find out the number without putting up a thread about it, why are you people so special?

Woo Hoo!

If you want a perfect example of the influence of us 'ordinary' Americans just look at what happened in the House of Representatives tonight. A vote of 403-3 against surrendering in Iraq!

And who voted AGAINST... Pennsylvania congressman John Murtha a day after his statement of surrender, a 'shot heard around the world' including by Al-Jazerra where he was the top story yesterday.

The power new media in forums like Free Republic, Hannity Forums, the blogosphere and talk radio was on display today.

The FReepers here Free Republic rang Murtha's phones off the hook, caused his fax machines to run our of paper and filled his email inboxes. See this thread: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1524448/posts

Way to ge everyone who took time out to call, fax and email their representatives in the House and Senate!!! You are all 'Great Americans'!

I want to know who the 2 Republicans that had voted 'yea' before changing to 'nay' and who did the ass kicking to persuade these RINOs to change their vote...

I wondered about that as well. It seems difficult to believe they would be allowed to change their votes...and it seems equally difficult to believe they were tallied incorrectly.

I agree with what you had to say. The final vote was too important to put at the end of a thread -- I certainly would have missed it.

This vote kept two Congressman from being at our Banquet tonight so that is the first thing I wanted to see when I got home -- the outcome of the vote.

Having waded through the other thread, it seems that they made a mistake in their vote (thinking that a yes vote supported the troops).
At least one of them, Lindner of GA, is apparently a solid conservative.
Don't remember who the other one was, but it sounded as if he should get the benefit of the doubt, too.

Evidently you're too important to search. Take it up with this guy: Le ZOTTE: My very IMPORTANT opinion on tonight's debate. VERY IMPORTANT BREAKING NEWS VANITY! MAYO Posted on 09/30/2004 11:56:49 PM EDT by Jim Robinson Edited on 09/30/2004 11:57:40 PM EDT by Jim Robinson. [history] NO ONE ELSE THOUGHT OF THIS SO IT DESERVES A THREAD OF ITS OWN! I think each and every poster on FR should post a new thread stating his opinion on the debate. This way, instead of having only a few threads with hundreds of posts each (ie, discussion threads), we will have hundreds of threads, each with two comments. One the important opinion, and two, the complaint about vanity posts.

Capitol idea, make it universal.

With all due respect Howlin, I avoid threads that are over 500. I have found they are overly inhabited by off topic posts, and are used as chat rooms in some cases. There is usually very little to add to what has been said over and over anyway.
