IF in fact, the networks are owned & operated by capitalists.
Remember?
Said something stunk, didn't "square" with reality in corporate America & what we're "seeing"? ;^)

Whenever I read your's and FGS' esoteric musings about the MSM, I'm reminded of Lewis Carrol's; "The Walrus and the Carpenter" poem...

The Walrus and the Carpenter
Were walking close at hand:
They wept like anything to see
Such quantities of sand:
'If this were only cleared away,'
They said, 'it would be grand.'
.........

.............
'The time has come,' the Walrus said,
'To talk of many things:
Of shoes -- and ships -- and sealing wax --
Of cabbages -- and kings --
And why the sea is boiling hot --
And whether pigs have wings.'

"Esoteric"?
Nothing cryptic about the damage inflicted upon the Republic & culture at the hands of a pack of Liberal-Socialist America hating traitors.
Treasonous quislings, FYI, who've usurped the Republic's "information highway", my friend.
No, nothing "esoteric" whatsoever a'tall.
I'm (profoundly) sorry you feel [that] way, just the same.

As for the L.Carrol analogy?
It's a good one Les, just not used on those who'd actively (*or* passively) attempt combating the insidious Liberal-Socialist's crap.
Certainly valid describing what those inflicting the nightmare upon our beloved nation have done though, for sure.
Be that as it may.

Will spare you any more future pings to topic you've (apparently) deemed unworthy your concern.

...'k? ;^)

>"I'm (profoundly) sorry you feel [that] way, just the same."<

-Whaaaaat? ok, apparently "esoteric" was the wrong word to use.
How about: obscure, opaque, murky, or enigmatic?
Sometimes your references are *difficult to understand* for a thick headed person (like myself) You have to admit references to Mr. Jensen from "Network" are a little obscure, right? For a *thick headed person* read *ME*) who doesn't understand *subtlety*

C'mon, Lan. It wasn't intended as an insult or to offend you, or FGS. I didn't say I deem your comments about the MSM to be "unworthy"...
The fact is the "Walrus and the Carpenter" poem is one of my favorites...(I'm not sure why, but maybe just because I love to rake, shuck and eat oysters?)
BTW, got that lil' red machine safely in it's stall yet?
...K? ;^)

My reaction would be the same, regardless the word.
It was the *person* using it.

On a forum filled -- to overflowing -- with himbos, bimbos, dorks & shady-shills of every stripe?
You have always stood head & shoulders above 'em all so it was only natural (to me) my expectation be commensurate, my friend.

"Sometimes your references are *difficult to understand* for a thick headed person (like myself)"

HA!!
"Smart-ass", yes.
"Facetious" (at times), yes.
"Thick headed" no, never.

"You have to admit references to Mr. Jensen from "Network" are a little obscure, right?"

Ummmm thought you saw the film.
You tell me.

"For a *thick headed person* read *ME*) who doesn't understand *subtlety*"

There you go, again. {said w/ best RR voice...}

Nothing "subtle" about the "Mr.Jensen" character.
As the CEO of the fictional corporation controlling the fictional "Network" what he said was "Law" & that held true even if what he said border-lined on insanity.

The reality is most corporations [today] -- & *especially* those controlling our media giants in the states -- have one (or more) "Mr. Jensen"s pulling the levers behind the proverbial curtain.
So the idea was as Liberal, Socialist or otherwise "left-leaning" as the alphabets nets are, nothing w/could happen without a stalwart *capitalist* giving his/her blessing & therein lies the paradox. What I & several other sincere patriots find so perplexing, confusing and maddening.
The trouble(s) lie in [our] preconceived idea(s) of what today's capitalist "is" and/or how one should behave.
Capiche?

"C'mon, Lan. It wasn't intended as an insult or to offend you, or FGS."

I'm not "offended", FBG.
Hardly.
I respect you too much & besides enjoy our relationship far too much to permit something as petty as mere word(s) or idea(s) damage it.
OK?

"I didn't say I deem your comments about the MSM to be "unworthy"..."

I know you didn't, *I* did.
Kind of a backhanded in the groin shot, eh? :o)
Got your attention, mission *successful*.

Kidding aside what's happened to our MSM today is the single most serious threat the Republic's ever faced, and for a whole host of reason(s) most of which you already know my friend.
Good people who unknowingly believe bad people's lies will do bad things.
Makes *perfect* sense, no?

"The fact is the "Walrus and the Carpenter" poem is one of my favorites...(I'm not sure why, but maybe just because I love to rake, shuck and eat oysters?)"

HA!!
You'd know. (g)
Making reference to that line also implies senselessness & you know it too so quit the "Who, me?" pious shtick.

"BTW, got that lil' red machine safely in it's stall yet?"

Yea, I do.
Have 90mi on the clock as of today.
Lemme tell you the thing's one wicked li'l red "Z" car (& I don't mean the Nippon one, either).
Hate to employ an oft misused word though to describe it too, but it's all that works.
*Awesome* in the extreme. ;^)

In fact I'm going to FWD you a couple .jpegs right *now* to your email addy, OK?

"K?"

...'k. ;^)

esoteric

One entry found for esoteric.
Main Entry: es·o·ter·ic
Pronunciation: "e-s&-'ter-ik, -'te-rik
Function: adjective
Etymology: Late Latin esotericus, from Greek esOterikos, from esOterO, comparative of eisO, esO within, from eis into; akin to Greek en in -- more at IN
1 a : designed for or understood by the specially initiated alone <a body of esoteric legal doctrine -- B. N. Cardozo> b : requiring or exhibiting knowledge that is restricted to a small group <esoteric terminology> <esoteric strategies>; broadly : difficult to understand <esoteric subjects>
2 a : limited to a small circle <engaging in esoteric pursuits> b : PRIVATE, CONFIDENTIAL <an esoteric purpose>
3 : of special, rare, or unusual interest <esoteric building materials>
- es·o·ter·i·cal·ly /-i-k(&-)lE/ adverb

If youse guys wouldn't use such big words!!! Anyhow, I think I know what FBD was attempting to convey with the word so I'll graciously accept your attempt to make us appear special(when at least one of us is an ol' east Texas country boy just trying to get along). So, don't mind Dan. His sweet bride put some Tabasco sauce at the bottom of hiw bowl of Cheerios this morning and he's been a little jumpy ever since ;^)

Some of the stuff concerning the media we've discussed many times and turned it upside down and inside out trying to get a handle on what makes 'em tick. Much of it is a rehash, or given a different twist in an effort to make some sense of their shenanigans. The fact that there's a dearth of news with a more-or-less objective presentation(God forbid conservative) just wanders across my mind occasionally as I mull over the problem. Maybe I figger if I ask the question enough, or ask it with a little different twist, I'll run up against an answer that suits me.

I don't mean to speak for Dan, bit it's my understanding (one of) his belief(s) is that we couldn't have the all but "singular voice" liberal media monopoly without at least the tacit approval of corporate America. IOW, conservative corporate Ameirca(if there is such a thing) has taken a laissez faire attitude towards the whole mess with one notable exception. And even at that, FoxNews is NOT truly a conservative news org. They have way too many libs on to spew their lies, and it's always been my contention many(most?) of their lies are difficult to rebut on live teevee due to lack of readily available stats/quotes etc. An hours or days later rebuttal doesn't carry nearly the impact as an immediate one, eh? But I digress...

So, the question I suppose is this, why is conservative corporate America for the most part not interested in showing the unwashed what America is, or should be, all about? What is it about 'em that keeps 'em out of the arena; above the fray??? I have come up with various rationales, none of which, on their own, seem to fully explain what's happened/happening. Which leads me to believe there is a complex set of circumstances that leaves the leftists in charge of our news.

I would love to see a separate thread of these 45 goals, and ask people to provide examples of where they have been implemented. I find that most of them have come to pass. I would like a list of examples.
