Exactly, great post. And many thanks for your service. I'm hoping for a "surprise" for the defeat brigade (Dems) when the captured Iraqi docs now being translated in Doha, Qatar are released, proving the existence of the WMDs, and the ties to OBL.

Once its released I am sure the media will ignore it so they can keep saying, "Bush lied!! Bush lied!!". Its amazing how they care more about power than the survival of the greatest nation God gave to man.

Well said, and I agree.

(but, then again, I'm NOT going to argue with a U.S. Marine!!)

Thank you for your service to our Country!!

I doubt he has the guts to actually do it.

My guess is his suicide belt would "malfunction". Just like that nutcase's in Jordan did.

There was nothing in that tape that indicated when it was made.....same with the one where they were all walking around in that dry riverbed with the Toyotas...with absolutly no concern about being spotted on a clear day.

Regarding UBL here you are incorrect on several facts. First off you are incorrect about the 2004 video (which made its way to the MSM) not referring to anything current or not indicating when it was made. In that hour long video UBL made several direct references to J. Kerry (whom UBL had no idea who he was in 2001) UBL also made several other references to attacks in Qatar as well as in Iraq (very specific references).

Additionally it seems you are oddly assuming you would be privy to such classified information as to "recovered" videos, audios, courier letters, etc that have been recovered in military Ops over the past 3 years -

That you (the public or MSM) haven't seen such items over the past 3 years certainly doesn't mean they don't exist.

Furthermore when is the last video we have seen of Zarqawi in Iraq? (is he dead too?) - What about our most sought after HVT in Stan Mr. Hekmatyar (is he dead as well?) - Where are those videos of Al Duri and Mullah Omar??

UBL (just like the above thugs) are much more concerned with being alive then with putting out propaganda videos.

The fact remains Zarqawi continues to remain alive and free in Iraq - Yet there we have over 155,000 U.S. Soldiers, control of 90% + of the Country, the majority support of the people of Iraq who have twice voted for freedom and Intel sources that far out value what we have in the border regions of Pak/Stan -

In Stan we have less then 15,000 U.S. Soldiers, where only a fraction of those are actually near the border regions and even a smaller fraction of those can operate effectively there for sustained periods.

The terrain in this region is some of the most brutal on earth making any type of sustained operations a logistics nightmare. Add to this the fact that the border region of Pak is basically autonomous from any direct Gov't and self ruled with much dislike of the West.

As I said several times before UBL is very much alive and being hunted by brave warriors who are risking all daily and nightly. Everyone from the CIC to the NCO's hunting his as$ are aware of this fact.

Regards,

Statistical probability for nuclear dna is about one in ten billion (more than the planet's population) for a perfect match. It is considered probative in a legal case for that reason. Mitochondrial DNA just isn't as exact..... YET. They have fewer "areas" of mtDNA where they can determine if we have a match, and mitochondrial DNA has between 5-10 "rings" of genetic material, vs the "chromosomes" of DNA in nuclear DNA. It has fewer base pairs (remember A-T C-G ?) and all the material seems to be devoted not to transfer of genetic characteristics (in fact, male mitochondrial dna in the sperm are DESTROYED upon fertilization) but in the "maintenance" of the cell itself, specifically the respiratory activities of the cell.

Because mtDNA is all maternal, there is good evidence for family linkage...., we think(!) when you trace lineage from mothers down, but no tracing paternally, although you can get a good educated guess if two people are brothers. There is not much deviation in mtDNA, as it is "cloned"... unlike nDNA, which is radically changed due to male/female combination of genetic material. In short, mtDNA is great if you want to determine matriarchially passed characteristics, but a bit spotty on other stuff. However, alot of really cool stuff is going on with the research on mtDNA, and statistics on that, with the ability to speak definitively on the odds that "he did it" or "he is the one" should improve dramatically over the next few years.

As to "my level of expertise," alas, I am a lowly insurance broker. My undergrad degree was in Chemistry, and so I find the subject interesting, but I would not know my anal sphincter from a hole in the ground nowadays in the lab. Worked in research for about a year and it was a race between whether they fired me or I quit. The theory was fun. Lab grunt work was agonizingly boring to me.

OPINION (Short Version): I believe UBL and Zarqawi wear the belts for photo ops. Basically, the jihad "leadership" icons are cowards, hateful and evil.
