Elijah, mighty man of God,
Sat under a broom tree,
Feeling sorry for himself.
He was all alone,
Fleeing from Jezebel,
Despite the fire from heaven on Mount Carmel.
But God spoke to him, saying
Eat and drink, and keep moving,
Seven thousand have not bent the knee to Baal.
Jonah, preacher to Nineveh,
Sat under a gourd,
Feeling sorry for himself
For Nineveh would not be destroyed
Which was his hearts desire
But God spoke to him,
Saying, And should I not feel sorry for them?
They do not know Me.
Jesus, son of Joseph,
Knelt in a garden,
Feeling the burden of what was to come.
If it is possible, Father,
Take this cup from me,
For it is heavy,
But Thy will be done.
And He went on the Tree
And in His shadow
We looked and saw,
A righteous man,
The Son of God,
Restoring broken hearts and homes
Restoring sinful men to God
When we are weary,
When we are sorry for ourselves,
When we want to sit under the tree,
Let us remember Him,
Who was raised on a Tree
So that we could live. Amen.
Note: This is my first original post. Can someoen put it in the right place for me?
Yeah. None of those guys
put up VANITIES. We should
all remember that . . .
This post came at a great time for me.....thank you
