Key facts about the reported attack remained unclear Tuesday, including exactly where it happened. A report released by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said the location was “unknown” and listed it as south of 31st Street on either East 1400 Road or East 1500 Road.
Louisiana Street turns into East 1400 Road outside the city limits. Haskell Avenue becomes East 1500 Road.
Also, there was conflicting information about whether Mirecki reported it at the scene or at the hospital. In an interview Monday with the Journal-World, he said he called police from the side of the road, but sheriff’s officials said they were dispatched to the hospital.
Mirecki declined to clarify the discrepancy when asked about it Tuesday outside the sheriff’s office.
“I can; I just don’t want to,” he said.
The sheriff’s report, which is classified as an aggravated battery, says that Mirecki suffered minor injuries. It says the incident started about 6:20 a.m. and was reported about 6:40 a.m.
KU faculty on Tuesday pondered the effects that recent weeks’ events would have on the religious studies department.
“I don’t think we know how it’s going to shake out yet,” professor Tim Miller said. “This is a difficult time to get through. I want to get through as well as we can.”
Religious studies professor Jonathan Boyarin said, “I hope that we will be able to move forward in our scholarship and teaching with mutual respect among the academic community and the people of Kansas and the larger community around us.”

the whole incident sounded fishy from the start - I'm from that part of Kansas and the "assailants" and the "assault" sound exactly like the imagination of a left-wing partisan, and nothing like the jerks I grew up with in that area who might actually assault someone.

This from the "Tolerent" left. The left who embraces diversity, the left who uses the courts to advance their homoerotic lifestyle while the general public disagrees with it.

It's been a while since I had the crap beaten out of me, but no, I wouldn't. I'd expect I'd be dazed. He did exactly what I'd do; he called the cops, and drove to the hospital.
There are unlikely things about this story, but that isn't one of them.
Actually it seems to be in accord with a handful of folks here who have used this incident to paint all Christians as complicit in violence against loony professors. The same people who attirubute the universe to mere matter in motion get their panties in a twist when a professor designs a class to ridicule people's beliefs meets with a bloody nose. "Cause and effect" is suddenly an alien notion, and they suddenly have a soapbox for preaching "morality" as if matter in motion demands some kind of accountability. Hey, it's nature's fault.
This is smelling very suspicious now. I'm beginning to wonder if this turkey hasn't gone Tyler Durden on himself.

Yesterday, I was willing to accept he was beaten. Sometimes it does happen. I wasn't going to join the conspiracy squad and just assume because the guy is liberal he is lying.

The prof didn't think his little false report through and now contradictions will begin to appear as he is questioned. That is always the case with liars who act on emotion.
