I pray it's JOHN KERRY or at least Jay Rockefellor.

KERRY IS MUCH OVERDUE when it comes to Leaking Names.

Any attempt by DoJ is just so much more smoke in Washington--lots of noise, but nothing good will come of it.

Gee whiz, Mr. Grumpy Gills. We are having a little optimism here.

... unless it's a Republican doing it. They are the only ones that can be trusted with abuse of power.

Lie detector tests are generally worthless in most cases. They can be beaten by the simple expedient of coming into the session hyped up on caffeine or some such stimulant. It's basically impossible to pick up the subtle variations that are used by the "reader" to detect lies. The same is true of voice stress analyzers. If everything you say sounds stressed then nothing shows up as a lie.

However, all calls in Washington D.C. are routinely traced (not recorded) so a thorough search of the phone records for any suspects should prove instructive. Most people who do this kind of thing really aren't that smart about it. You usually can't use that kind of evidence (e.g. Joe Wilson placed a phone call to Pinch Sulzburger 15 minutes after being briefed about the top secret that got leaked), but you can use it to get wiretap warrants and other surveillance tools put in place.

Lets see how serious they really are about this. So far the Bush administration has shown a marked reluctance to pursue any of these things. In keeping with the Clinton's MO I believe that they have threatened to reveal something "incriminating" about either Bush 41 or Ronald Reagan if Bush 43 goes after them. Maybe W has decided that his Dad's reputation or Ronald Reagan's memory can survive, maybe even thrive, on release of whatever "scandalous news" the Clinton's are holding. Maybe a secret program to defeat the Soviets, even if it wasn't Congressionally authorized? Gee, a President who actually wants to help America and hurt her enemies? Similar revelations about W have sure hurt his standing - NOT!

I thought the only people briefed on this were on the Intelligence Committees. Is McCain on the committee? I didn't think he was.

When does a Joint Resolution supercede the Constitution?

I the sense the MSM is getting very nervous because they know that it doesn't have to be about who wrote the story as Miller knows all too well.

Media will circle wagons, but DC types will run for cover.

My bets are on Rockefeller and recently resigned FISA court judge Robertson (a Clinton hack) being the leaks. Rockefellers don't go to prison...Clinton cronies do.

"Half the fun is going to be watching the MSM circle the wagons."

No doubt W has picked a fight with those that buy ink buy the barrel. Imagine the whining and the charges that W is attempting to censor the press, but what the blind and thick-headed OLD MEDIA doesn't understand is all the publicity will shine more light on the anti-American themes of libs and OLD MEDIA itself. Dems lose the debate. Bring it on!

And; see my tag line.

Now they say the FBI is involved. I would bet they have been looking into this for a while, the reason they went public is because they now have some hard leads to follow.

And a few arses to fry.

OK I'll take the other side:

Maybe one should read the entire Constitution, not just the 4th Amendment.

The establishment of the FISA court did not amend the Constitution as to the Presidents responsibilty and power during time of war.

Some will wish it did, but it certainly did not.

"This is good news. The leakers have compromised national security and should be brought to justice."

What they really need to see is the firing squad.

James Risen's book is released on Tuesday 1/3. This is a smart pre-emptive move by the White House. When Risen hits the book circuit, he's going to be asked about who at the CIA and in Congress leaked the classified information to him. Eventually, he'll be asked that question by Justice Department prosecutors and when he refuses to give them up, he's going to jail, just like Judith Miller.

Good point. The MSM's usual tactic in these instances is to simply kill a story by ignoring it. That's not an option in this case.

Read the Assistant Attorney General's letters to Senate Intelligence Committee dated 12-22-05:

Another "toon" in the WH would never allow a law to stop them from anything.
