Why in the world would you tip the dems off like this?

Works for me. Anita Hill was eventually discredited by David Brock, but not until after she had permanently trashed Clarence Thomas's reputation.

It would have been better for the country if we'd had pajamahadeen back then, so that would could have been spared the farce that was the Thomas confirmation hearings.

This ought to be good. The hapless dims are going to pull out all the insanity stops to shame themselves yet again before the nation. I love it. I wish more SCOTUS positions were open so I can be entertained by the hearings.

Oh,My God....Alito belonged to a...gasp....CONSERVATIVE group at Princeton?

I wonder if it was ever mentioned that both Ginzburg and Bryers were members of the Young Communists League at the University of East Berlin.

controversial articles -- one compared farm animals to Holocaust victims -- began to filter out Friday afternoon when an aide to Sen. John Cornyn (R.-Tex.) e-mailed to reporters a Los Angeles Times op-ed

Dumb move by Cornyn. He should have waited until the guy was ready to testify. That is the kind of info you would hit him with on the witness stand.

Maybe the Republicans should call him to witness.

oh yeah, like the MSM would report it straight and the Dems witness would look like the nut he is. NOT! better to head them off at the pass before we get headlines. the great American public does not read beyond them, nor dig deeper after a soundbite.

Reports of Dujack’s controversial articles -- one compared farm animals to Holocaust victims -- began to filter out Friday afternoon when an aide to Sen. John Cornyn (R.-Tex.) e-mailed to reporters a Los Angeles Times op-ed written by Dujack that compared farm animals to Holocaust victims.

Ahhh.....our friends the Democrats.

The Democrats on that committee should be run out of Washington on a rail.

Agreed. Trashing a witness is fun, but it doen't always help the client - it depends how it's played to the jury. We don't have the press - they do. Don't give the witness a chance by keeping him off the stand. The Reps here did the right thing - just not as much fun for us, and WE are not the jury.

His quote: “In relation to animals, all people are Nazis. For them, it is an eternal Treblinka,”

Hmmmmmm. As a lacto-ovo vegetarian and non-leather-wearer for ethical reasons, I'm quite sympathetic to reasonable arguments that animals should be treated as the fully sentient beings they are. But this country has a gazillion dollar a year pet-pampering industry, sizeable bureaucracies devoted to enforcing laws protecting farm and lab animals from undue suffering, and "animal cops" who respond to reports of animal abuse by showing up promptly at the alleged site of the abuse prepared to rescue the animal and take it for high-tech medical care while the offending owner is hauled off to prison. I fail to see any similarity at all to the treatment of humans in Nazi concentration camps.

Too bad they didn't let this doofus appear at the hearings and field questions. Shouldn't have been hard to bait him into explaining why the Jews in the concentration camps deserved their treatment because they'd been meat-eaters. Most likely a carnivorous Jewish Democrat Senator would have done the honors (if I'm not mistaken, 5 of the 18 judiciary committee members, including chairman Specter, are Jewish, and 18 of 18 are carnivorous).

LOL, many Republicans were ecstatic at the prospect of interviewing this arrogant fool.

Could you imagine?

But Brock eventually disowned all that he did against Hill. I don't know why anyone on the right OR left would trust this snake.

A true extremist being hauled to pain Alito as an extremist? hehehehe...I would have paid for C-SPAN to watch that hearing/testimony.

Completely irrelevant to my point.

The point is, it's better to blow them out of the water before they fire their shots.

Using dubious allegations which were later debunked (it doesn't matter whether Brock or anyone else was the one to do it, they would have been disproven anyway), the Democrats got to smear one of our best conservative judicial nominees on live television, and to score points with the soccer moms. I'd rather dispense with all that.
