MURTHA THE TURNCOAT
NEW YORK POST ^ | January 8, 2006 | KIERAN MICHAEL LALOR

Posted on 01/08/2006 6:51:06 AM PST by kellynla

LAST spring, I dropped by an anti-war rally in White Plains. When I made it clear that I was an Iraq vet who supported the war, the insults began to fly. Most slurs were boilerplate anti-war clichés, but one man struck a nerve: He marched up to me, looked me straight in the eye to ask, "You joined the military?" — and when I proudly answered "yes," responded, with utter disgust, "You are a sucker."

I felt the same rage last weekend just watching Rep. Jack Murtha declare on TV that, were he younger, he wouldn't join today's military.

I expect that kind of rhetoric from the washed-up anti-war rabble that congregate on street corners to relive their glory days — not from retired Marine colonels.

Murtha's call last year for a cut-and-run strategy in Iraq was one thing — irresponsible and unwise, but basically just stating a policy position. This is different.

What a nice New Year's treat for the beheaders and suicide bombers to know that a decorated Marine and lawmaker thinks the U.S. military is not only "broken" but not worth joining. Abu-Musab al-Zarqawi will no doubt use Murtha's words to inspire his band of thugs to hold out longer and kill a few more Americans assuring them that ultimately we will wilt like Murtha.

Why would Murtha not want to be part of a military that in the past four years has liberated 50 million souls and heroically brought aid to tsunami and earthquake victims, saving untold lives? Surely he knows that all was chaos in New Orleans in the wake of Katrina until Gen. Russell Honore's 1st Army and the 82nd Airborne came to town and provided relief and a security presence.

Evidently, Murtha doesn't think this is noble work.

I think it's dubious calling someone a "Democrat hawk" when the person has for sometime been diverting funds for the military to his own pocket via his friends and relatives. That's not my definition of a "hawk" of either party.

Murtha, Moran, Pelosi and all the other democrats are just doing what comes naturally to democrats (for over the last 30 years or so, since Vietnam anyway)--giving 'aid and comfort' to the enemies of the US.

But with them doing it during a time of war is just outrageous.

How can they NOT possibly realize that they are providing encouragement to our enemies?

Democrats get more disgusting by the day.

Up to the point that Murtha said he wouldn't join the military and said no one should, I gave him the benefit of the doubt on his views. No more. I consider him a traitor, a coward and a disgrace as a Congressman. He is certainly no longer a Marine, he is an EX-MARINE.

Use it or lose it applies to military power. An inactive military is full of opportunists and promotions are based on politics. There is no doubt in my mind that four years of war footing deployment is radically changing the "ARMY OF ONE" into a disciplined and effective fighting machine. Many careers are being enhanced based on performance and the leaders of the future are being forged. Those who serve and leave are also profoundly affected. My mother said my dad learned to pick up his socks in the army in WWII. Yet we hear none of who is distinguishing themselves, even though they will be leaders tomorrow.

Then thank GOD he is not younger. He brags about visiting the injured at Walter Reed. If I were a family member of an injured soldier there I would request that this bastard not be allowed to breath the same air, much less visit my son or daughter. How dare he brag about his visits to our injured troops and then announce to the world in so many words that they were suckers for joining up. I say he should no longer be allowed into Walter Reed.

Murtha, Pelosi, along with Teddy Kennedy, all suffer from DEMENTIA and belong in mental institutions. They are too far gone to be rehabilitated in prison. Murder has no Statue of limitations, so how come Teddy Kennedy still walks the streets? Murtha is a total disgrace to the Marine Core, He deserves a firing squad.

Murtha is the DNC darling. As the DC Chapter witnessed last Thursday, they are looking for the new champion to cut and run from the war. The cowards are many and ignoring them is not the answer. They are not going away soon.

There has been much hoopla about Murtha's Marine service. Maybe it's all true , but it would sure be interesting to see his file.

"37 years in the Corps doesn't give Murtha a pass on everything he says and does for the rest of his life.
After all, Lee Harvey Oswald was in the Marine Corps too.
And Benedict Arnold was a patriot at one time also."

You said it ALL with that Kellynla.

Murtha let his emotions sweep him away. I submit he is less a traitor to his country than he is a congressional slacker who is emotionally paralyzed from doing his work on behalf of the servicemen and women. He is the natural result of too many men watching Oprah.

Coincidentally the last week has seen a big upsurge in "insurgent" attacks. Words have consequences.

Pork does not come from hawks. Pork comes from pigs.

And for years, when liberal "journalists" wanted an example of bring home the bacon and dishing out the pork, they wrote about John Murtha.

All I can find is 10% of it active duty, one year of it in Vietnam with docrations. There's a mention of Captain Murtha taking over the 314th Special Infantry Company but nothing beyond that.

Most of his Marine career is a black hole...

The Congressman is quoted saying that the U.S. Army is "broken, worn out" and "living hand to mouth."

Sign Idea for a counter-Freep of Murtha:

        MURTHA:
    "BROKEN, WORN OUT,
  LIVING FOOT IN MOUTH"

"We cannot win this war for England, regardless of how much assistance we extend."

Charles Lindbergh, April, 1941

"You cannot win this thing militarily. Most of [U.S. troops] will be out of there in a year if I have my way."

John Murtha, November, 2005

Murtha is saving his crooked ass...he was to be investigated for crimes he's committed through his serving as a congressman; influence pedaling of contracts to family companies due solely because he's in congress and is on the committee/s and helped to award those contracts. This is highly illegal, however, if republicans now go after him in congress...the rats will scream it's because he came against the iraq war. He's nothing more than a self serving bassturd....
