Actually I was a journalism major in college during some of his prime time, in the 70s and I had little respect for him. He was famous as the mouth of television news with only Huntley/Brinkley as his competition but he never would have survived the internet blogosphere. I seldom watched Cronkite because his signoff of "And that's the way it is, this ___ day of ________, 19__" used to infuriate me because it sounded so omniscient and pompous.
