It's not a scientific test, it's a metaphysical reality.

No. It is an assumption you, and those like you, wish to adopt as you undertake science. There is nothing wrong with that. Just as you understand science is not all about proofs, you understand science, for each and every observer, begins with assumptions about metaphysical realities.

Science undertaken with the assumption that "only natural phenomena can be observed " has proven to be, and will continue to be, exceedingly valuable. I hope it continues to be welcomed in public schools, and I will argue against those who want it removed from the same.

Tell us Fester, in detail, how one investigates God using science. Enough BS. Enough dodging.

[how do we know heliocentrism?]

It's my understanding that Foucault's pendulum was the first "proof" of the Earth's rotation.

Let me guess. Everything is supernatural (as Fester has asserted) so all (science investigates) is God. It's not useful, but if you accept the premise, well...

Yes, that's my understanding too. Although I'd prefer to call it a "demonstration" as opposed to "proof."

I was just mentioning creationist tactics and you obligingly provide this wonderful example.

Always glad to point out the fact that E's really do NOT have it all nailed down; especially using their own words!

You are welcome!

Paul is wrong on so many things, it's amazing that he's even considered a Christian.

Considering his resume; I doubt that ANY church today would take him on as a pastor.

Well, if you dispute speciation, then at least we can agree on rejecting the Noah story as babyish nonsense (I originally typed childish, before I remembered that most children see through the story easily by around the age of 8).

Yeah - so true.

Too bad THIS fellow didn't get it though....

NIV Matthew 24:37-39
 37.  As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.
 38.  For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark;
 39.  and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.

These fools musta missed it, too!

NIV Hebrews 11:7
   By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.

NIV 1 Peter 3:18-22
 18.  For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit,
 19.  through whom  also he went and preached to the spirits in prison
 20.  who disobeyed long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water,
 21.  and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also--not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a good conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
 22.  who has gone into heaven and is at God's right hand--with angels, authorities and powers in submission to him.

NIV 2 Peter 2:4-11
 4.  For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell,  putting them into gloomy dungeons  to be held for judgment;
 5.  if he did not spare the ancient world when he brought the flood on its ungodly people, but protected Noah, a preacher of righteousness, and seven others;
 6.  if he condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by burning them to ashes, and made them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly;
 7.  and if he rescued Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the filthy lives of lawless men
 8.  (for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard)--
 9.  if this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue godly men from trials and to hold the unrighteous for the day of judgment, while continuing their punishment.
 10.  This is especially true of those who follow the corrupt desire of the sinful nature  and despise authority.   Bold and arrogant, these men are not afraid to slander celestial beings;
 11.  yet even angels, although they are stronger and more powerful, do not bring slanderous accusations against such beings in the presence of the Lord.

How do you investigate God? Be specific.

Ok......

NIV Deuteronomy 4:29
   But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find him if you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul.

NIV 1 Chronicles 28:9
  "And you, my son Solomon, acknowledge the God of your father, and serve him with wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind, for the LORD searches every heart and understands every motive behind the thoughts. If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will reject you forever.

NIV 2 Chronicles 12:13-14
 13.  King Rehoboam established himself firmly in Jerusalem and continued as king. He was forty-one years old when he became king, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city the LORD had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel in which to put his Name. His mother's name was Naamah; she was an Ammonite.
 14.  He did evil because he had not set his heart on seeking the LORD.

NIV 2 Chronicles 15:1-2
 1.  The Spirit of God came upon Azariah son of Oded.
 2.  He went out to meet Asa and said to him, "Listen to me, Asa and all Judah and Benjamin. The LORD is with you when you are with him. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will forsake you.

NIV 2 Chronicles 30:18-19
 18.  Although most of the many people who came from Ephraim, Manasseh, Issachar and Zebulun had not purified themselves, yet they ate the Passover, contrary to what was written. But Hezekiah prayed for them, saying, "May the LORD, who is good, pardon everyone
 19.  who sets his heart on seeking God--the LORD, the God of his fathers--even if he is not clean according to the rules of the sanctuary."

NIV Psalms 9:10
   Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you.

NIV Psalms 10:4
   In his pride the wicked does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God.

NIV Psalms 27:7-8
 7.  Hear my voice when I call, O LORD; be merciful to me and answer me.
 8.  My heart says of you, "Seek his  face!" Your face, LORD, I will seek.

NIV Psalms 119:155
   Salvation is far from the wicked, for they do not seek out your decrees.

NIV Proverbs 8:17
  I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me.

NIV Isaiah 55:6-7
 6.  Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near.
 7.  Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to the LORD, and he will have mercy on him, and to our God, for he will freely pardon.

NIV Jeremiah 29:13
   You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

NIV Lamentations 3:25-26
 25.  The LORD is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him;
 26.  it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD.

NIV Matthew 6:33
   But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

NIV Luke 11:9-10
 9.  "So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
 10.  For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.

NIV Acts 17:26-27
 26.  From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live.
 27.  God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us.

NIV Hebrews 11:6
   And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

Enough?  ;^)

You have it down correctly as far as I can tell, except for asserting that such an approach is not "useful." The only way it is not useful is if one strains the definition of science to mean only "scientific method" or data and theories without any shaping principles.

Otherwise it's the same approach used by Newton, Galileo, and many others. It is not the only way to approach science, and it is not to be proscribed by law to the exclusion of other types of science that omit theistic considerations. Not in our free land. But it works fairly well.

Science is a good thing. It is even better when we can all go at it in different ways.
