I dont agree with this. Its a bad idea. I know everybody always says Nazi too much on the internet but this is just like some thing they would of done. If a student doesn't like what the professor is saying, he can just change to another course. Taping the speeches is a lousy way to force them what to say. College is about ideas and not all of them are going to be good. An educated person will see through BS not all of them are stupid enough to get brainwashed.
You are overlooking some important points, particularly in undergraduate courses. Those students are generally coming from public schools which teach less and less about anything. Such students know little about US history and government. They are ripe for anything the college profs feed them. Your statement about changing courses doesn't work either. Degrees require mandantory courses taught by the same instructors. There is no escape that way. Brainwashing by liberal professors and CYA by weak administrators is being exposed and challenged. Taping in classrooms has been an acceptable for a long time. The current opposition comes from those guilty of abusing the power of grading to stifle dissent.
I'm not worried about the smart ones; I'm worried about the ones with mush in their brains that can vote....
Um, this is tax payer money. It is not incumbent on the student to be forced fed trash, to be belittled and threatened with bad grades or possible failure if they don't toe the leftist orthodoxy enforced with the academic jackboot. Furthermore, many of these classes are required and specific to the area of study for these students - how is that serving the tax payer, the student, or the school? I know people who have won lawsuits against universities for such bias.
