DAMASCUS (Reuters) - The U.S. flag serves as a doormat to an office and nearby merchants announce "we boycott American goods", but some Syrians can't seem to keep away from American fast food at the new KFC fried chicken restaurant. snip KFC opened its first outlet in Damascus this month, becoming Syria's first fully licensed American food franchise. snip "Fast-food franchises are a new thing in Syria and (the opening of KFC) is a good thing," said Firas Safi snip Besides, as the country worries about bird flu, surely KFC "examines its chicken before cooking it ... I trust KFC chicken more than any rotisserie", said Farzat.

No, you didn't read it right. Here, read it again:
[$100] is the price of five "bargain combo" KFC buckets each filled with 15 chicken pieces, a large order of French fries and coleslaw, five buns and a litre of Pepsi.

Now Pamela Anderson is going to Syria to stage mass anti-KFC demonstrations.
Hopefully, she won't come back.
Actually, she PROBABLY won't come back.

$20 for a bucket of chicken and sides is still pretty expensive.

Yea, but do you have any idea how much it costs to fly chickens to Syria from Kentucky ? :)
To: njpa
Good news for the Syrians....their friends the Iranians will have a huge supply of crispy fried chickens soon.

$20 for a bucket of chicken and sides is still pretty expensive.Wouldn't most of that meal need to be imported since all they really have in Syria is sand and camel crap?
When I was in the Turks and Caicos, a hamburger with sides was $30 or more. In Kansas City? $7
