Jim Lehrer, on his NewsHour program on PBS on Friday night, ridiculed John Kerry for calling for filibuster from "the ski slopes." Click the link above for the entire transcript. Liberal Mark Shields and conservative columnist David Brooks both joined Lehrer for some Kerry bashing.
This exchange is making left-wing radicals furious, who are now calling Mark Shields a "Republican stooge" and a "Fox News Democrat." One leftist website had this to say to Mark Shields, long time CNN analyst:
"This is the most despicable performance in your long career of pretending to be a Democrat. If you love George Bush with such devotion, then go register as a Republican today. Better yet, pick up a gun and go fight his disastrous war in Iraq. And give your "Democratic" spot on PBS to a REAL Democrat - someone with the cojones to stand up to the Emperor Without Clothes and his mouthpiece, Jim Lehrer!"

Conservatives (not Republicans) have learned the art of "critical thinking".
I get a kick out of liberals trying to explain why we vote how we do. They just don't get it.
LOL. Devious as ever, miss mama. Can we possibly het a whole other campaign during which to take shots at him?
Bubba looks like hell.
Gates looks like Lord Voldemort.
"In other words, at one time, to de-spin the news, you had to have the dedication of a sovietologist and you had to read carefully between the lines. Most of us in the conservative camp have done this our whole lives, reflexively, it comes naturally. "
Spot on recollection. Until about 1996, I felt so all alone. You'd rarely meet another conservative thinker, so you had to do it all yourself in the wilderness. It really was out of 1984, mind control.
But, then, they will ignore and demean the voices of those who have fought in Iraq.
Consistency is certainly not the hobgoblin of liberal minds.
Mark Shields IS a Stooge, but defnitely a Democrat one!!
Do you have the pic of Kerry windsurfing with no wind? There is NO wind in the sails for the PHILLY-BLUSTERING girlie men in the Senate.
Edselcrats! Good one!! Kind of like the "buggy whip" media.
PBS is not NPR.
PBS is usually liberal, but Lehrer isn't too bad. I like that they actually cover stories in depth on the NewsHour without the extreme bias of NPR.
What's the difference? Both conscript your tax dollars to fund a view you may or may not support. That one is ultra-wackadoo and the other is only semi-wackadoo doesn't make much of a difference IMHO.
You seem shocked that this would be the case. America has always had commies and socialists since there have been such people.
In fact, in the early-mid 1900's, they were at dangerously high levels.
If you think that America somehow will gain tons of them though, you are mistaken. They will never be a political force capable of actually winning elections or coming close. But, they will help peel off Dem votes if they become strong enough.
I agree. Thanks
just trying to be technical since some were thinking this happened on NPR.
The difference between PBS and NPR....sometimes PBS will actually be on the right side of an issue. NPR never is.
Our enemies within, posing as Limousine Liberals,
...KERRY & TED KENNEDY calling for a fillibuster on Judge ALITO's Supreme Court nominatin based on moral and ethical grounds is absolutely...
KERRY came back from Vietnam long ago to call us American Soldiers fighting for the Freedom of others there...
...rapists and terrorists who cut off heads and ears,
...instead of the Communists we were fighting who really were.
Turns out that TED KENNEDY, who cut off Congress' funding of South Vietnam's capacity to fight for its own Freedom with, now has a...
fully expposed 21 year old love child:
As both JOHN KERRY and TED KENNEDY are now trying to do to the Free people of Iraq what they did to
Vietnam long ago, in the end bringing for all to see:
Pictures of a vietnamese Re-Education Camp
Reflecting on the terms "complete incompetence", and "collateral damage", I'd have to say, no, take a pass on that...
Actually, Kerry is the quintessential narcissist - hence the inability to see himself as needing advice or as being wrong. The "hero in Vietnam" and medals for nothing are all symptomatic of this serious personality defect. His call for a filibuster is a reflection of this same disorder. He is a "look at me" junkie.
The godfathers in the Democratic Party will destroy him to make way for Hilary.
I am waiting for Kerry and/or any of the other dim hopefuls to start going after Her Heinous. THAT'S when it will get innaresting...
I've been away. "Kerry was in Switzerland?? I thought he was in Vietnam!!!!"" Damn!!
"What on earth did Matthews say to be called a Rove stooge?"
It was something along the line of Osama sounding like the Democrats in his latest tape. This was taken as a smear on Democrats.
He was in Switzerland before he was in Vietnam.
DONGgggggggggg.... "You Rang"? Yes...Lurch my boy.....remember who you is.....it's not the butlers job to be an arrogant pontificator. Now go and clean up the dungeon like a good Lurch should.... "uuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhh!"
That is just loony. But what do you expect from moonbats.
This is their essence, A.C.:
---Pro-freedom of speech...as long as it agrees with their own.
---Pro-military...but only if it is a Democrat who fought in a war that he hated.
---Pro-life...unless it hasn't been born yet.
---Pro-gun control...so long as they control it.
---Pro-freedom of religion...so long as it is the one religion that they believe will kill them if they stand against it(Islamofacism)
---Anti-torture...unless they get to administer it
---Freedom to protest...but not to BE protested.
---Pro-term limits...unless it is a Clinton.
---Pro-high taxes...for everyone else.
---Pro-war...when THEY start it
---Pro-dictator...unless it's Bush (whom THEY call a dictator, not me)
---Pro-warrantless spying...unless it's done by a Republican president, when THEY are not in control of either house of Congress)
Shall I go on? Must I go on?
YOU ARE CORRECT, SIR! HA HA HA HA! HO HO HO HO HO! /Ed McMahon
That really came in handy didn't it?
Do you think he's always at some place enjoying himself at the expense of his wife? Does anyone know how often he took these "trips away from home for pleasure" before marrying "The Heiress"? I have read he used to bum places to sleep!
Did brooks really say that?
BTW it's a large file, so it will load slow if you're not on fast connect.
I agree. That could be the motivation for the NY Times to run two editorials which squish Kerry like a vise would.
The first editorial screamed for a Democrat with a spine to get behind a filibuster.
After Kerry called for a filibuster, the Times's second editorial called his attempts "awkward" and "quixotic."
re: 93: Tell these guys to get a room.
You don't say?
He looks like a cross between one of those Code Pinko she-men and the guy that plays Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe). But then again, when you've got all that scratch, who cares what you look like?
BTW, where is Gore? Did he show at the summit?
I'd say Kerry and Gore bear out Mo Udall's assessment, don't they?
Shhh! They are Rovian plants working under deep cover.
Yeah, and Cindy Al-Sheehadi is a moderate, middle of the road voter..
"Hey Ter-ay-zah, listen to this..."
(cupping hands around his mouth while atop a Swiss ski slope) ... "I was in Vietnam ---- (echo) I was in Vietnam --- (echo) I was in Vietnam."
