That was a compromise to expedite urgent wiretapping while keeping a "check" (or was that a balance?) in place on presidential power. For a future president, say (god forbid) HRC, they will have to show that they were really going after terrorists and not going on a political fishing expedition..
Now I remember... he came on after Obama - who, according to David Letterman, will be president one day. I swear he was trying to imitate him...
What a sad sack guy.....Hagel is PATHETIC.

Then hopefully he will be swept into the dustbin of history. Along with the Dixie Chicks
ok .. it's 5 days
My point still stands
Senator with all due respect get off your butt and help. Show some support instead of your sour face on TV all the time. This man grates on my nerves.
What a great idea Chuck! After all, the "people" have the right to know, don't they?
Better yet, see if you can get the president to arrange a tour of the NSA with CBS in tow. This way we can all see what lurks in the mind of our "evil" leaders. Then Ted, John and YOU will be satisfied that we are not harming the enemy too much.
Guess 3.000 of our own going down didn't register on your conscience (joke) all that much.
Oh yeah.........(sarcasm)
Maybe someday we will find out why Hagel hates this President so much.
It is personal with him. You can see it in his eyes and his body language.
LOL! Exactly like the Patriot Act the Congress has already made permanent. Oh, wait, didn't do that did they? Nope. Instead they left it to expire while they jetted off on vacation. They sure had time to orchestrate protections for terrorists however.
There are two people that reside in the U.S. Senate, supposedly are Republicans, that are scum. Hagel and McCain.
Everyone else whether it be Democrat Chafee, Specter, Collins, Snowe etc...not scum. Insufferable perhaps, but those two named are the lowest of the low. Ranking right there with Kennedy, salazar (I know he's new but he's proven to me he'll rank there) and Durbin. Arizona I can sort of understand. They did produce Goldwater, that went looney at the end. Nebraska producing an Al-Quida sychophant? That is completely inexcusable.
The good news, if you can call it that, is that only the MSM and Al Quida give this jerk the time of day. He doesn't have sycophants in the U.S. Congress, like McCain has Linds on his tail. He's completely isolated in influence.
Hagel "must" shut up. Senatorial blowhard.
I think the NSA has to erase the intercept if a warrant isn't approved? Think I saw that explanation somewhere here over the past month. I had previously asked the same question - it made no sense to me either. There apparently is another scenario where the NSA has to redact the US side person's information/profile before turning the intercept over to the FBI.
These two morons and whoever decided on the headline need to be nominated for the Darwin Awards.
And, this needs to be on the top of the RNC ad campaign.
Is Chuckie off his meds again?
These Senators are in love with their own voices...Chuck needs to explain why he isn't up to speed on this program since he is on the Intelligence committee...Was he absent during the briefings?
Hagel is a clueless RINO!
Given that only 6 took the time or trouble to look at the intelligence the administration gave them.... I wouldn't doubt he was too busy to bother.
I am looking forward to the day when Chuckles is no longer my senator. No way the folks in my state will EVER reelect this clown.
I can't seem to figure out what he is trying to do. Maybe he will run for the 'Rat nomination in '08. It's for sure no Republicans will vote for him.
