My wife expressed her disappointment that she frequently sees outrage here at the "body of work" of the Westborough Baptist Church's vile protestors, but she rarely sees anybody here do anything about it.

I checked out Google News for the Patriot Guard Riders and came across this list of articles that mentions their real, live actions taken to counter the Westborough sadists. These are just the articles that mention these guys by name. There are a bunch more that mention their activities without specifically naming the organization, using another search.

If you've got a bike, check them out: http://www.patriotguard.org/

Perhaps there's a lesson to be learned from these great Americans who are doing something productive.

Thanks for pointing this. Here in Virginia, it’s not unusual for folks to ride (or drive) 3 or 4 hours each way in questionable weather and at all hours to attend funerals and homecomings.

I’ve just done two Patriot Guard missions in two days, and got back a few minutes ago. It’s tough to stand by the gravesite and hear taps played when the same was done for your son only 2 years ago. But these patriots and their families deserve all the honors we can give, and that’s why I’m there. If you can be there for them, be there, even if it’s only on occasion. You don’t need to join up to be there with a flag. Just show up. I did that first time, and now I’ve done 9 missions. Two of those were homecomings where everyone came back intact. Those are the best!

The PGR is there to honor our troops and their families. If we can turn our backs on the nutjobs and shield the families from dishonorable behavior, that is a plus.

Semper Fidelis,
