I sure hope Saad and Kavanaugh would be brought up again. Whether Frist will do so is the 64 thousand dollar question. My guess is no, unless GWB enominates them like he has done in the past with Pryor and Janice Rogers Brown

The nominations of Saad, Kavanaugh, Myers, Boyle and Haynes are all pending "in the Senate" at this moment. Saad, Haynes and Kavanaugh in Committee, to be precise. Only Kavanaugh had to be "renominated," the others have been pending since February last year.

Does that change your guess to "Yes, Frist will bring them up."? Heck, Myers and Boyle aren't even contentious, best I have been able to recon. And they are out of Committee, currently on the Senate's Executive Calendar, Myers since March last year, and still not brought up for a vote.

I guess you don't own land along the I55 corridor..do you? My guess is that you have no idea what Lott has done in Mississippi...because the whole damn world doesn't give a rat's ass about Mississippi. New Orleans is the precious victim baby right now (highlighted on the grammy's tonight)...meanwhile 2/3 of Mississippi's people & lands were devastated by Katrina...the sharks are moving in and no one gives a damn.

I don't know what plane of 'relatism' you reside on...but am i here in the real world of devestaion..corporate giants and states greedy to steal the property of the individual during a national emergency...POX on either house that uses it for political football.

No, I live nowhere near a flood zone, and I must admit that I do not have the foggiest idea what Trent Lott is doing in Mississippi. I think your Governor is doing a good job, am I wrong?

I'm sorry if I came off as unconcerned, but I was focusing more on Senate procedures than local affairs. I will pray that all works out well for you and your family in the rebuilding process you face. I have donated to the relief effort several times, but I'm not aware of the local concerns

May God Bless you and your family as you struggle to rebuild what you have lost

"You'll notice my remarks had to do with Wallace's association with Rehnquist and Clinton's impeachment. I am unaware of Sen Lott's position on issues of eminent domain."

ok..you get a pass....lol
Frankly, I would probably be disinherited for 'callin' Lott as i see him...however I am the executor of my families estate...lol...
and..I shall never be hungry again.....

All I can do is hope that he will. I think Frist is guided by the NEWS of the day, rather than what needs to get done.

My previous point was to challenge your, "Frist ... has pushed GWB's judges through."

I think he, as with most Senators, take a collegial path, looking for least resistance, and all too willing to "give" on something that isn't "theirs" to begin with. That is, I see the nominations as the President's, and Frist doesn't have his heart in them to the point of "fight."

I agree, but Trent Lott was not the poster child for "Profiles in Courage" when it came to standing up to the Dems. If the question is would do a better job on pushing Judicial Nominations through the Senate, I think Frist proved himself to be better than Lott on this issue. But Frist is not as good as Lott on Legislative issues such as Tax cuts and Social Security, Frist seems to simply roll over and say he will take it up in the next Congress

"Secured reversal of an eminent domain judgment which had temporarily seized possession of a historic hotel in downtown Jackson"

Some perspective is helpful - Is this the King Edward of great fame?

http://www.marklyon.org/travels/King%20Edward%20Hotel/

pics at the link

I remember a C_Liar political cartoon showing the Jackson city skyline in 2065 or something - futuristic buildings with the king edward in the middle. THe cartoon must have been over 10 years ago - around the arson time. We are on course.

no..u r right! Haley is doing the work of angels in a world that hates his 'embassy'. I don't live in Miss. anymore..i have people and property that do though..so i watch..with great interest. I appreciate your concern for local affairs. I ask you...what better way to judge a man than in his own 'home'? Haley has passed the test...Lott never did. sorry

I absolutely love Pat Roberts.

However, I am still ticked at the way "the memo" was handled.
A Republican aide was fired, and there was little publicity about it.

Good Lord!
We've been watching "the memo" unfold for over two years!

He's can be tough at times, but at other times he's too much the gentleman.

Besides...had he publicized "the memo", it might have hurt others in The Senate Club.

I place more scrutiny on Governors for the affairs within their States than I do the U.S. Senators who represent their States in Washington D.C.

I believe our founding fathers would agree with me. I believe that Trent Lott or any other U.S. Senator should focus on General issues that are State wide and leave the concerns of local communities to the elected officials they've chosen to represent them in their Districts

ROTFLOL!

I am a born and bred Mississipian.
My family still lives in Meridian, Laurel and Jackson.
I am the only "wayward" member of the family.

OH! My family has been there since well before the WBTS...
in fact, they have been there since Meridian was Sowashee Creek.
Old Indian name, FYI.

Please...try NOT to be so inflammatory.
We'll get along much better if you aren't.

And, where do you live?
You might want to give us a head's up, and tell us a bit about yourself,
on your home page.

He's right.

Get in touch with Haley,

I would be happier if he were a former aid to John Lott.

It's very nice to meet the progeny of a fellow founder of MS.

"anymore ??"

Yes...this is not a Trent Lott thread.
It's a Michael B. Wallace thread.

If you do a search, I'm sure you will find a "hate Lott" thread real fast.

That being said, I am of Celtic heritage, myself.
And, I have DAR blood, too.
So, what's your point?

Sen.Lott broke every promise a conservative should have(from what i hear)..

And yet you go on to rant about only one issue. I wasn't a fan of Lott as Majority Leader, but he's got a solid conservative voting record.
