Coretta Scott King's Funeral...a "Class Act"?
Townhall.com ^ | 2/9/2006 | Matt Towery

In some form or fashion, I have known the players in what I am about to describe as a series of regrettable moments at the funeral of Coretta Scott King.

The one I know least, President George W. Bush, won both my sympathy and respect for gallantly enduring the slings and arrows pointed directly at him during what should have been a celebration of a great woman, but instead turned into a political rally

I hate to be condescending to one so vastly more wise than myself, but...........George W. Bush isn't running for office again.

No one at the funeral will ever be able to vote for him.

Just thought I'd point that out.

Now DO carry on.......

The kinds of blacks who worship Coretta Scott King would never vote Republican in a pig's eye.

Bush is the first President to have a black Secretary of State and a black Secretary of Defense and the response from the radical blacks - the ones who idolize people like Scott King, Harry Belafonte, etc, is that Rice and Powell are "Uncle Toms".

I think the best thing to come out of this event is to publicize the vitriolic hatred of the far left, the radical black clergy, and that nut-job Jimmy Carter for the President, and their total lack of any class. But anybody with half a brain should have realized that by now anyway. I doubt if it changed any black minds one way or the other.

And again, I think tax free status should be jerked from any minister, priest, rabbi or imam who uses his pulpit for political purposes.

I strongly agree with you on this point, ZULU.

well which the hell is it, troll, or newbie? and who sets the rules, you? Sorry, I was in Moscow when you signed on (became a member)here, and anyone signing on here the day after you did, and especially when you disagree with them, is a newbie, (or a troll, or whatever else) so please forgive me. No other place do I know of that one is a newbie after several thousand posts, but ok, if you say so, since you're the vet here. What else can you teach me oh great one?? I guarantee you, you are the newbie.

gotta go meet a client now, so don't think i am 'running away' from you. I am sure this is another assumption you would make and post when nothing comes from me for 5 minutes or so. You know the drill, "he must be a troll, he left, why doesn't he respond? we really must have gotten to him, he's over at DU, etc.

Poka

Oh.

And I suppose they lay out the dead wives of every American leader from Georgia in the Georgia State House?

That does help! I'll try it next time.

Now that I have started on this thread, I have to leave. My 83 year old mama has a doctor's appointment and my sister and I have to go with her (so we'll know for SURE what the doctor says) so I am off soon.

Thanks again for the welcome. And heartfelt thanks to your son.

Conservative victories have occurred when conservatives have played hardball, not when Republicans have acquiesced to and compromised with their enemies. Gingrich's Contract with America campaign in 1994 successfully captured the House of Representatives for the GOP for the first time in 40 years simply by being forthrightly conservative. Had Cuban Americans and other GOP activists not been militant in preventing Democratic officials in South Florida with ballot box stuffing, Florida and this the 2000 election would have been won by Al Gore. Homeschoolers have found in case after case that no compromising with respect to the right of parents to educate their children results in greater freedom to home school. Had the Klamath Falls area farmers rolled over and played dead when the Feds restricted access to water needed for irrigation, they would have been forced to quit farming at a sizable economic loss. The Swift Boat veterans, with their determination to expose John Kerry's less than stellar military record, helped turn the tide against the Democratic challenger in 2004. Bloggers and talk radio effectively exposed the fraud that Mary Mapes and Dan Rather attempted to foist on the American public regarding President Bush's military record. Had conservatives of almost all stripes not firmly opposed Harriet Miers for the Supreme Court vacancy, she would have been exposed to the flames of the liberal lynch mob on the Senate Judiciary Committee.

The lesson is that toughness and militancy work, compromise and appeasement do not. I am sure that, given Arlen Spector's duplicity with regard to the warrantless wiretapping of suspected terrorists, President Bush regrets supporting him over his conservative opponent in the GOP primary in Pennsylvania two years ago. The President has been admirably tough regarding the enemy abroad; he or his successor need to use the same tactic toward the enemy within.

Are we being a tad defensive here, Insure? What happened to all that bravado and sneer?

Don't make too many assumptions on a public forum and make a fool of yourself in black and white. You may think you're cute at the time, but those comments come back to haunt you because they never, ever go away.....

You may want to back off a bit here.

She was in the Georgia State Capitol. How could you confuse that with the White House?

I don't know. Maybe they do.

But what's your point? Clearly and concisely. What is your point?

The state of Georgia wanted to honor her memory. Why is that a problem with you?

My taxes are lower, the pro-life culture is advancing, and we've got more conservatives sitting on the bench. Life is good.

what, are you going to come and get me or something? bravado, sneer - your words and your welcomed to criticiae me in any way you wish, doesn't mean jack.

Assumptions? I'll make them all day in public and private forums, Cute? My wife thinks so. Comments come back to haunt me? This would be very last on my list of concerns.

Back off a bit? You don;t know me very well, do you?

Any other assertions you would like my reaction to will have to be forthcoming at a later time - really, gotta run now, not good to be late for a meeting.

Keep up the good work of educating everyone on how it really is.

If anyone would like to send an e-mail or make a phone call to express your disgust to Jimmy Carter's staff you might try this.

Jimmy Carter Library and Museum
441 Freedom Parkway
Atlanta, Georgia 30307-1498

Telephone: 404-865-7100
Fax: 404-865-7102
Email: carter.library@nara.gov

I'm sending an e-mail right now and then I will make a phone call. Someone like Rush, Sean or O'Reilly needs to head up a national campaign for people to express their disgust at a sorry, loser, former President would taking a swipe at a sitting, war-time President. I'd be willing to travel to Atlanta to protest outside the Jimmy Carter Library.
