In The Face Of Evil..
FR

Posted on 02/21/2006 1:13:21 PM PST by Conservative Coulter Fan

Last night, I watched in “In The Face Of Evil” and I must say it was a superb documentary on Ronald Reagan and it masterfully chronicled his relentless courage and ultimately his victory over the Soviet Union and the ending of the Cold War, which in my mind was the single greatest thing any President has ever accomplished. I really hope that all freepers, and every American, sees this movie for I’m sure it would trounce Fahrenheit 9/11. I hope everyone recommends this to all their friends, family, coworkers, etc., etc. TBN showed it last night...I'm not sure if they'll boradcast it again..

I don't have TBN on my cable choices. Maybe the Learning Channel or Discovery will pick it up later on.

Movies like this is why it is essential to use Netflix. Local video rental stores would NEVER carry this, but Netflix has it (and many others like it.)

I would like to see this. Hope it comes out on disc soon.

I dsagree slightly with your opinion that, "his victory over the Soviet Union and the ending of the Cold War, which in my mind was the single greatest thing any President has ever accomplished. "

Although an enormous achievement and the greatest by any president of the 20th century, to my mind Reagan comes in third, behind Washington and Lincoln. Although technically Washington's greatest achievement occurred before he became president.

We’ll, I’m afraid you’re just plain wrong, because Ronald Reagan defeated the “Evil Empire” that was responsible for the murder of tens of millions of its own people under the tyranny of leaders such as Lenin and Stalin, not to mention the countless gulags and slave labor, while it held dominion over Eastern Europe partially thanks to FDR, Truman, Ford, and other Americans, lest we forget the Iron Curtain with the barbed wire, landmines, and armed soldiers, the complete suppression of religion, its massive buildup of nuclear weapons, tanks, and other armaments for the goal of creating a single worldwide communist state that threatened the lives of every American with the prospect of thermonuclear war and worse.

BTW...I’m not dismissing Washington and the struggle for independence from Great Britain, which ranks highly and I agree with the scholarship of Thomas Dilorenzo in his book, “The Real Lincoln.” I have a negative view of Mr. Lincoln.

What I don't understand, knowing the political donations of NetFlix and Blockbuster, is why NetFlix has this, and other conservative movies, while Blockbuster does not.

Forget about renting it-- BUY IT! It is phenomenal, not just for its showcasing of Reagan's work, but also for the historical footage used to create it.

With all due respect, without the achievements of Washington and Lincoln in bringing together and holding together the nation, there would have been no nation for Reagan to use to accomplish what he did.

Part of what makes something an accomplishment is the severity of the obstacles that must be overcome. The USSR for most of its history was essentially a paper tiger. To be fair, for most of that time it was a nuclear-armed paper tiger, but its resources and military potential were much smaller throughout the Cold War than those of the US. The danger of confronting the USSR was not that it might be able to defeat us, it was that it might choose to blow up the world rather than admit to defeat.

That is a very different type of threat from those faced by George and Abe. Washington faced up to and outlasted the leading military power of his time. Lincoln rode out the greatest challenge any world leader has ever faced, IMHO. (Although I realize many here hold a different opinion of the man.)

I rank Reagan well above any president other than these two, so it's not exactly like I'm putting the man down.

Too bad the site wants you to "sign up." Not for me. I cannot stand the BS, and subsequent spam.
