Personally I think we'd be better off chipping away at Roe vs Wade for 3-5 more years and wait for one more conservative justice. The abortion problem won't be solved until people are no longer indoctrinated into believing that having the child would mean the end of their world so to speak. Which means, the governor should ban public education before abortion.

I was worried about the timing of this bill since it was being debated during the Alito hearings. Now that Alito in in, though, I feel comfortable that we'll get another conservative on the court before this makes its way through the legal system.

Abortion is horrible buy this isn`t going to help AT THIS .
TIME. We haven`t won the fights over parental notification or late term abortion yet. And, GWB still needs to nominate two more judges.

Again, I admit that I was concerned about the timing of this bill. I've come to the conclusion, though, that now is the time to push this. Most of the people in this country are pro-life, and there will be a huge backlash at the polls if this is struck down by the Supreme Court. In the time that it takes for this to make it that far up the judicial ladder, we need to continue to push for those issues that you mentioned.

Not very often do you win in politics when you lose. Case in point, look how many years after Roe V Wade has it taken to get to this point. Abortion gets OK`d one more time by the Supremes and it will be law 200 years from now.

Yes 33.3% (308)
No 66.7% (617)

Abortion historically is the worse recorded holocaust ever with over 45 million. Waiting 3 to 5 more years will add millions upon millions more deaths.

Is waiting really an option???

I assume that like all states SD already has a law against murder. Just apply it.

If it gets that far, I think the SCOTUS will disallow the SD law because of the lack of a rape/incest clause.

Well good news here from DrudgeReport tonight:

http://www.argusleader.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060224/NEWS/60224007/1001

PIERRE – As the South Dakota House of Representatives gave final approval today to a bill aimed at banning most abortions and creating a U.S. Supreme Court challenge to the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision, Gov. Mike Rounds said he’s inclined to sign it.

The House gave final approval to the bill with a 50-18 vote Friday afternoon.

At a press conference Friday morning, Rounds said he will sign the bill if he determines that it can save lives.

“I’ve indicated I’m pro-life and I do believe abortion is wrong, and that we should do everything we can to save lives,” Rounds said. “If this bill accomplishes that, then I am inclined to sign the bill into law.”

It takes two to tango. Both parites need to be accountable for their actions. Ergo, in my opion, this issue is a non sequitar; and do not give a diddler's damn about abortion issues.

One thing I like about Dakotans is they absolutely don't give a rat's ass over what anybody else thinks.
