Most all of the wine ping threads have favorite wine recommendations. Try a search by title or keyword: wine.
Well, actually I don't really like it all that much either.
I like shrimp, scallops, lobster, cod, orange roughy, but a lot of other fish I can take or leave.
I'm always available to go with some good grilled beef or lamb and a big red. Potatoes won't hurt me either.
Several of my favorite wines last year were Zins and Syrahs.
There was a good run of the "ordinary" Cline Syrah that was real good for a couple of years. It was low priced at the World Markets.
The Rosenblum Zin is not bad for a $10 Zin. The Cline zin was good too.
I like good, not too heavy Rhones or Cote du Rhones also.
LOL! My wife says the same thing (only she bleeps herself like you do)
When she says I have to narrow the collection to whatever can fit in the wine cooler, I choose wisely since it only holds about 25 bottles.
Cheers!
I buy all kinds of food and wine at World Markets that I don't intend on buying when I walk in.
They also have my current favorite affordable wine glasses. They're about $6 or 7 a piece and are big. They come in 3 shapes or bowls. I'm going through my big wine glass phase with lots of room for sloshing and swirling. I forget the name of them at the moment. Only problem is you've got to hand wash them because they're too big for the dishwasher.
We have switched to stemless and are very happy with it. Riedel (sp?) The glass is important but they can only make a good wine better, but not a bad wine any good. :o)
I've seen the Riedel stemless, but for some reason don't care for them.
LOL - i loved that film...and i like a good Reisling
GROSS! Lol!
Received a couple of sets for Christmas. They grow on you.
I agree. Some Reislings from Austria or Alsace are fairly dry, unlike the German ones. I like that petrol thing they have. I know it sounds kind of gross but I like the taste with fish, as you say.
I also like icewine, and now I'm a proud New Yorker. The icewine I loved was from Canada called Iniskillin. Hmm.
How are things going NautiNurse? We are getting in full gear with major repairs. Things are going well for the neighborhood and most of us have our roofs in progress or are soon to start.
Just in time for the next season...yikes!
Ain't stickin' around this time...
Great tagline update!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, the Sheldrake Ice Wine is very very sweet. I tried it last October when we were touring last year. While I prefer a dry red, the ice wine was a nice change of pace. One must appreciate what the winemaker goes through to make this appertif.
Ping
That's a real, if not impossible pairing. I'd have to go with a 'Banyuls' if pressed. Seem to me the selection of the port for a dessert wine was not the mistake in the design of the dinner but rather the peppermint.
I didn't at first either - but have adopted them as my absolute favorite! Especially the Bordeaux. It takes a lot to break them, easier to clean and store, and have the same effect on the wine. I've got the Chardonnay, Montrachet, and Bordeaux collections and are always the envy of guests more so than the wine that goes in them. Go figure.
