Iran-Georgia-Gas Iran is scheduled to export 30 million cubic meters of gas to the Republic of Georgia wihin a period of 30 days, an oil official said Monday.
Upon the request of the government of Georgia, Iranian and Georgian officials signed an agreement last week for Iranian gas to be supplied to Geogia, which is facing a gas shortage due to a disruption in supplies from Russia, Iranian Deputy Oil inister for International Affairs Mohammad-Hadi Nejad-Hosseinian told IRNA.
He said that the total value of Iranian gas to be supplied to Georgia would amount to USD seven million with the Georgian government agreeing to pay cash in advance within a limited period and under certain conditions.
Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili said Saturday the Georgian parliament has approved the importation of natural gas from Iran to Georgia.
Georgians shivered without gas and power on Saturday in the coldest winter for a decade as officials rushed to secure new gas supplies from Iran.
Georgia was left without gas after explosions Sunday last week in two pipelines carrying Russian gas to Georgia and Armenia.
The blasts also cut a major power line and on Thursday high winds severed another cable leaving the country without electricity.
Is it any wonder that Georgia showed us the finger this weak on the subject of helping out with airforce bases against Iran?
Yeah, but I wonder if this will strain relations between Russia and Iran?
Ahmadenijad is going to Georgia?
So I guess that Ted Kennedy is at quota
I have a theory on who blew up that pipeline from Russia to Georgia, in 3 places. The same Mullahs who instantly stepped in to offer gas. Relationships between those two have been straining for quite some time.
Georgia, Georgia, Georgia. What about Alabama? :)
NO, it won't. It just means that Georgia has succombed to Putin pressure.
This article is from January. Georgia is no longer getting gas from Iran. The pipeline was bombed by Kremlin-backed South Ossetian separatists.
Uh, that would be 30M cubic meters. 30m = 30 meters. Mega is always capitalized.
$7000000/30000 = $233 for 1000 cbm.
Georgia pays for Iranian gas twice more than for Russian ($110).
Iran on his own buys Turkmenian gas for $40. More than 450% profit for Iran! And this is American money.
Wise move by Saakashvili. /sarcasm on
Georgia Exports it right back...
Psst... Hey, Abdullah. Pull my finger!
Well, jb6 is so desperate to attack Georgia for something that he use article from January but claim that this is from March.
"The pipeline was bombed by Kremlin-backed South Ossetian separatists."
reference pls. when you get a chance.
Was Jimmy Carter involved in the negotiations?
Wha' happened? I didn't even get a sniff in!
Fast ZOT!
