'The Assault On American Youth' Jay Bennish Preaches Hatred

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The last Global Geographic Literacy Survey, assessing the geographic knowledge of 18-24-year-olds in nine different countries -- Canada, France, Mexico, Great Britain, Japan, Italy, Sweden, Germany and the United States -- was, at best, a disappointment. It found, for example, that only 17 percent of young Americans could locate Afghanistan on a map; 29 percent could not correctly identify the Pacific Ocean; and 11 percent were unable to find the continental United States.

If high-school geography classrooms around the United States are anything like that run by "teacher" Jay Bennish, at Overland High School in Aurora, Colorado, the results are understandable. Though Bennish is charged by his school board and principal to instruct his young charges in geography, he chooses instead to use his pedagogical perch to preach hatred -- of Israel, George W. Bush and the United States.

After the State of the Union Address in January, Bennish told his students that the president's speech "sounds a lot like the things that Adolf Hitler used to say." He went on to accuse Mr. Bush of "threatening the whole planet," while describing the United States as "the most violent nation on the planet" and a country seeking to "keep the world divided."

Theres a pretty good chance I can't find Afghanistan on a map, its a third world nation, there are hundreds of those. Although its next to Iran so I could probably use some deductive reasoning.

On the bright side I memorized all the countries and African and Latin America for my college Geography course. I know taking a geography course in college is stupid, but it counts as my non western history class, plus its easy. The professor is pretty liberal but a nice guy atleast. Yesterday we watched a video about how from 1999-2003 his home nation of Malawi (in Africa) had a famine, and the video blamed the free market, yet when they got more into the problem it turns out their fascist government bought up a sizable portion of the grain stock, and someone from their party sold the grain and the money from the sale was stolen. So they blamed a dictator stealing government stockpiled food stores as a failure of the free market. I laughed, and explained to the pretty girl sitting next to me why the video was full of s***

It's funny that our country spends so much energy on American Idol, Britany Spears, and Paris Hilton. How many folks do you knwo that can not balance their check book (or care that it balacnes) but know the status of all the big Hollywood Couples. Maye we could get the problem solved by asking for help from Opra and Dr. Phil!

The point that is missed is not what Bennish said, but that he took nearly half the period to promote his views rather than teach geography.

It's because of "educators" like Bennish that our "publik skools" do such a poor job that U.S. Students finish 19th in standardized tests even though we spend more per capita than any other country in the world on education.

Thanks for the ping cgk. Ollie is one of the few people who truly know what it's like to be hounded by the press, Congress and those who would harm our country and her allies. He's been forged by fire from all sides and NEVER WAVERED from his duties or beliefs. His opinions actually mean something to me.

SHOCKING POLL: A MAJORITY OF AMERICANS CANNOT NAME A SINGLE DEPARTMENT IN THE PRESIDENT’S CABINET.

Washington, DC – Most Americans are unable to identify even a single department in the United States Cabinet, according to a recent national poll of 800 adults.

Specifically, the survey found that a majority (58%) could not provide any department names whatsoever; 41% could. Only 4% of those surveyed specified at least five of the 19 executive-level departments, a figure comparable to the poll’s overall margin of error (+/-3.5%).

The same firm that last year revealed an eye-popping 64% of Americans could not name any of the Justices of the United States Supreme Court, has now uncovered a similar lack of knowledge with respect to the Executive Branch of federal government.

“These poll numbers would make any high school civics teacher cringe,” says Kellyanne Conway, President and CEO of the polling company, inc., in Washington, DC, the firm that conducted the survey.

“The differing levels of knowledge according to gender, race and age are astonishing,” she continued. “An incredible 70% of 18-34 year olds failed to specify a single agency or department,
