I was starting my business with my brother at the time, so I was too busy to keep up on movies when I rented The Matrix.  I literally didn't have the slightest idea what it was about:  I didn't really even know it was Sci Fi but I ended up being blown away by it.  That film was an instant Sci Fi classic.

And even though the Burley Brawl with the self-replicating Smiths in the second Matrix is to this day the best fight scene I've ever seen in a movie, the Wachowski brothers had already jumped the shark with the rave scene earlier in the film.

I found the third Matrix to be basically unwatchable.

So when I saw the first trailer for V, I knew it would be garbage.

Like so many film makers before them, the Wachowski brothers only had enough talent and skill for 1 good movie but that one good movie has given them the reputation to go on making garbage.

It's obvious that the newsentertainment media exist for the explicit purpose of changing the minds and perceptions of the audience, not to entertain.
Movies, sitcoms, TV specials are made with a specific intent: to convince an audience, lulled into complacency by the emotions of the story, of some greater "truth".
Gone are the days of the subtle messages embedded in "All in the Family". The message is so explicit, so obvious, so blatant that even mind-numbed products of the public school system can get the point.

Yet the parallels to the Bush administration seem inescapable. The movie is about a government that wiretaps its own citizens, that twists the meaning of words in Orwellian fashion,

Like 'pro-choice' for pro abortion ? Like 'affirmative action' for reverse racism?

that accuses its enemies of "godlessness" while menacing them with truncheons, that uses its all-news channel to whip the populace into line by keeping them in a state of near panic.

Ummm, would that be CNN? Hardly a mouthpiece of the Republicans / conservatives. Pure projection. And this too:

They were press-averse even before Larry's kinky sexual proclivities became tabloid fodder. In recent years, the older sibling's appearance and wardrobe have become increasingly feminine. In 2003, he was linked with a noted Hollywood S&M dominatrix, Karin Winslow.

Just your run-of-the-mill All-American guy!

Finest sleeping potion known to man. Just can't seem to keep my eyes open, when a hollywood film is on.

THE MATRIX was groundbreaking and original. A great flick. But I couldn't make it through the second flick in the series and have never seen any of the third. When 'V' is a financial dud, the Wachowskis wil be in the straight-to-DVD category!

It's just a stupid movie, that people hope will generate some revenue.

Once again the libs portray their hypocricy.
They are "anti-violence" and peaceful and anti-war...unless it involves blowing up right wingers, christians and the "establishment"

Big yawn.

Hillary needs to turn the thermostat up in her office. Then again, maybe not. *cough*

Darn shame to see Portman (who is a very talented actress) turning into just another left-wing moonbat. The irony is, she was born in Jerusalem...you'd think if ANYBODY would understand the evils of Muslim terrorism, it'd be somebody who was born at one of the epicenters of it.

This coming from a woman who once equated being a soccer fan with being an Al-Qaida sympathizer? For the life of me, I can't understand how she has any credibility.

The "praise" is not unanimous. Newsweek hates it, at least. I haven't gone out of my way to read a bunch of reviews yet.

Too bad, looked like it could have been a 1984 type movie. Just more crap - lets hope it bombs.

Let's just cut right to the chase and run the seditious traitors in Hollyweird out of town on a rail.
