The current edition of Scientific American: Mind has an article on this subject. It says that the genetic component is only about 0.25 (going on memory here). Further -- it states that there is a spectrum of "gayness", and only the hard core, who are totally attracted to the same sex, cannot be changed to prefer the opposite sex.
