Police: 3 dead in restaurant shooting

PISMO BEACH, California (AP) -- A gunman opened fire inside a crowded Denny's restaurant during lunch hour Wednesday, killing two people and wounding two before taking his own life, police said.

"There could have been 30 or 40 people inside. As the shootings occurred, people were fleeing the restaurant, hiding in bathrooms," Cmdr. Jeff Norton said.

Police said they did not know the motive for the shootings

The names of the gunman and the victims were not immediately released. Nor was the condition of the wounded.

Pismo Beach is in San Luis Obispo County, a 3 1/2-hour drive northwest of Los Angeles.

Yes, they're known for their ag, engineering, and architecture (she's an arch major).

I acutally bought a few f1rearms when I lived there in the early 90's.
In 1990 I tried the 'architorture' school for a semester at Miss. St., but being in my 30's, was too used to getting a paycheck and threw in the towel. I'd be applying for my first arch job with my walker, in diapers...

I just remember looking at a red state/blue state map and noticing how SLO county stuck out like a sore thumb. You're probably right. Orange has traditionally been conservative but who knows these days.

"Looks like the perp had the Grand Blam! breakfast."

The Grand Blam is only available at dinner.

I know the guy was crazy, but geez, if your going to have your grand exit, why a low-rent diner? Why not get dressed up and go for a 5 Star restaurant?

He could've had Honey Pecan glazed Blam! and a side of fresh garden vegetables sprinkled with gorgonzola cheese.

Thanks! I was right, then! What IS the name of that northernmost county? ... looking it up right now in my handy-dandy atlas ... Ah! Del Norte County!

I was pretty surprised to see Ventura County go red. Its base is agriculture, but liberal transplants tend to outnumber sensible farmers and ranchers quickly.
