Is the flag the government? Remember, Jehovah's Witnesses also don't salute flags because they see it as idolatry. This is how I see the Muslim recruits reacting. Once they are taught correctly, there should be no immediate problem. Small problem being blown up into big issue.

If you don't see this as a symptom of a huge problem in all of Europe, maybe you should open your eyes!

Turning your back on the flag of your country says a lot more than just a refusal to salute it.

These three Muslims shouldn't be in any European army during a war on Muslim terrorists, and adding more Muslim personnel in the form of imams doesn't make the situation any better.

But, this is the Austrian army we're talking about, so logical thinking is irrelevant.

That is not simply not saluting.

That is an act of defiance to authority, which they are under.

they have permission to pray 5 times a day, no matter what job they are performing at the time. Some who attend Friday Prayers stay away for the rest of the day.

For the first one, most Muslims agree that prayer times can be shifted and/or combined to make up for the times where prayer isn't possible. I remember an article about a Muslim ambulance driver who did this.

The second is easy, throw'em in jail if they don't report back after prayers.

They were conscripted, not volunteers.

I don't see this as a cause for escalating the rhetoric in Europe and the U.S. We need clear heads but firm action. Throwing conscripts in jail over something like this would be counterproductive. However, I wouldn't give these guys a security clearance or have them do sensitive work. Let them do their time and go home.
